Uvularia grandiflora ( Large-flowered bellwort) , we call it "Sorrow clock" in Sweden. This one lives in the forests of Missouri and is the favourite of all flowers for me.

I heard that we got our first case of swine flu, but it was a false alarm. But it´s just a matter of time before it comes they say. If You are older You probably woun´t be hit that hard from it, if You get it. There has been something similar before and if You got it then You´ll have a better defence towards this infuenza. If it mutates again it can be really bad for us. During the WW1 there was a influenza that we call “The Spanish disease” that killed millions over the world. But thankfully we have a much better healthcare nowdays, at least in the richer countries. What can happen in the poorer countries I don´t even want to think about.

The water is rapidly sinking in the creeks now. This April is tha dryest in years here in Sweden. Today I have to water my flowerbeds or else everything will dry out.

Now the news that Chrysler probably will go bankrupt spreads all over the world. That´s not good news but I understand that they didn´t reach the goals they had to, to get more financial aid. I´m so sorry for all workers that will be out of jobs now. But this will not only affect them, but all other buisnesses that depend on Chrysler. But perhaps they can rebuild the company later?

Today it´s Walpurgis night. This is a big day here in Sweden and many people works only half the day today. Here in Sweden it has its origin from the Vikings celebrating spring, but it was later made a christian holiday. This day we have hughe bonfires, but not this year because it´s to dry outside and in most places these bonfires are forbidden, and in some places they have fireworks too. When the bonfire is started choirs (often student choirs) are singing songs about how wonderful spring is. It´s real fun and I´ve been singing in a lot of Walpurgis choirs. It´s lucky they have this day every April 30 because many people need the holiday (May first) to recover from the night before :-) :-) May first I think is celebraited all over the world and I´ll tell You a bit more about how things have changed here tha last few years. But I can tell You that I yesterday became an alternate member of the union board in the factory where I work.

Just a couple of days ago there were no leafs on these trees. It goes to fast now!

The cottage to the right is my home. Belive it or not, but it is actully slightly bigger then the one to the left, but lower.

The Portal is slowly getting green now.

I´m happy to say, in a priggish way, that Sweden beat the U.S. in hockey last night :-) :-) :-) The U.S. was leading with 5-3 when it was only ten minutes left, so I had stopped looking at the match. But now they showed that we won at the news today :-)
Now I can hear the coffee machine from my kitchen so it´s time to stop writing.
It´s going to be a bit chilly today, only 20C (68F) and an arctic strong wind is blowing. But I can assure You that I will enjoy this weather no matter what. The heat in the factory almost made me wich for winter again :-)
Have a great day now!

The wild cherrys has started to bloom now :-)

This is a really old fence post they used to fence out cattle with. It´s been lying here for years and now it´s slowly decomposing.

Great post today Christer. I really like the photo of your cottage. Who lives in the other one? And yes, we are sorry here about the news of Chrysler but alas, if they do team up with Fiat then maybe they will get the money to save them. GM discontinued the Pontiac for 2010. That was the first car I bought, used, a Pontiac GTO In 1968.

Everything is really greening up and I wish I had the Sorrow Clock flowers in my garden. They look simply beautiful.

We also watch the swine flu. So far nothing here in Florida. You have a great day Mr Union Man!

Happy Walpurgis and congradulations on your Union position. You sure are getting some great flower pictures. It is good Sweden won the game we americans seem to think we should win all the time but a loss is always good for one in sports.

Hi Z&M!
So it´s the teaming up with Fiat that´s the problem. It´s always difficult to try to get different working cultures to work together, but I think they at least should try! A Pontiac GTO, a classic! My first car I bought 1983 was a Citroen DS21 Pallas -73. Not a great car to have as ones first car but I loved it! I´m a bit of a Citroen fanatic, or was. Nowdays I look upon my self as a sober alcoholic when it comes to Citroens. As long as I don´t touch or sit in one I´m okey, outherwise I´ll only buy one :-) :-) :-) Perhaps I should write about that in a blog? I think I´ll be writing about different work place cultures tomorrow, meeting another one than one is used to can be a nasty schock.
Have a great one too!
Christer.

Hi Woody!
We´re not better than You americans. Before the world cup we have already won it according to swedish newspapers :-) :-) So You can understand what a chok it was when we lost towards Latvia :-) :-)
Have a great day and take care!
Christer.

HiZ&M!
I noticed I missed answering whos living next door to me. Well it´s a man that is abot ten years younger than me and that´s what I can say. We lived next door for two years now and I hardly see or hear him, a perfect neighbour with other words :-)
All the other neighbours keep asking me about him and I have never anything to say :-) :-)
Christer.

Does he look like Osam bin Laden? We've been looking real hard to find bin Laden for 7 years now.

Christer.

Good morning, Christer! (Why am I up...I have 2 babies to take care of and it is 2:38 AM Central Standard Time in America..aaaargh!).

Loved reading today's post, especially b/c it started out with a photo of a flower that blooms in the woods of Missouri (are you talking Missouri, USA?). I am a Missouri girl at heart (and a University of MO grad!) who has been transplanted to Kansas.

Yes, sad for Chrysler. My father-in-law is currently out of work as he is a delivery driver for a subsidiary of GM. (He delivers vehicle windshields to different GM factories around the U.S.) So many businesses are tied to the automotive makers! He is currently doing flower delivery for a local florist, but the depressed economy has taken its toll on flower delivery as well!

Love seeing the pic of your home. The photo is deceiving in reference to size. It looks lovely though!

Happy May Day and congratulations on your new Labor Union post!

Valerie

Hi Valerie!
Yes the flower is from Missouri USA. It´s my absolute favourite in my garden.

Not fun to get up that early or very late. Hope everything is okey with Your children!

Yes times are tough now and I´m still surprised that the factory I´m working at still has a lot to do. I hope I can do some good in the union, but as You can read in my new post I have a lot to say about our union leaders and nothing good I´m afraid.

No one that sees our houses can belive that mine is bigger :-) But it´s actully 33 square feet bigger :-) My little cottage is enough to me and my dogs, but the planning of it makes it impossible ta have a family there.

Have a great First of May now!
Christer.

I am going to be a good sport and congratulate Sweden on winning. :) I think it's great!
Your pictures are really nice..I love them all, but the ones of Teodor and the dog are always my favorites..yes, even in spite of the beauty of the flowers!
Politics? I don't know. Unions are good usually. AND needed. After my school years I never really celebrated May..just with little May baskets on doors..girly things.
Have a great Weekend, Christer!

Hi Mona and thank You :-)
We haven´t had that tradition with the baskets as far as I know here in Sweden. Not the May poles either. We have a Maypole or midsommer pole, but as the name says we have it at midsummer instead.
Christer.
