Congratulate me :-)

Today I went to the hospital and got the answer I wanted. They´ll fix my hip! My doctor has retired to be honest and shouldn´t be there at all, but he comes in every second month to help out with surgery in the orthopedic departement. Since there have come new plastic materials that holds longer than the material they have today, I might be one of the last to get the kind of implants I have. I´m almost historic then having two hips fixed that way :-) So they´ll probably fix me this December or February next year :-)

Bertil and Teodor still haven´t found out how to catch my fishes without getting weat at the same time :-)

Snails finds most places to be a good resting place :-)
They said in the weather forcast thet it probably would rain here today. It started out as clody, then the sun came and shined a long time. Thunder looked by for a couple of minutes and then a slight drizzle came. Then it all started over again :-) I can hear the thunder on a distance right now, so I better make this blog short.

Day lilies looks so beautiful for one day.

But already the next day they have given up.

I tried to take some pictures when travelling to the hospital. Most of them were crap, but the few I managed to get right is showed in the bottom of this blog today. I drove that way to work for almost eight years so for me it looks so familiar. Mostly I don´t even think about how it looks there. But the raod is really beautiful. Now I can see that I only got pictures from villages and the bigger town Skövde, not how it looks the rest of the way. If I remember I´ll post those tomorrow. For me it´s nothing special though, just fields, forests and mountines all the way.

Pelargonium australe.

I´m not sure Erna is happy about having Bertil next to her. But nowdays she doesn´t try to bite him any more :-)
Well I can hear the thunder even more close now so I´ll better stop this for today. Tomorrow it´s work again. This time they´ll know I´m komming to work though :-) No chanse to do nothing I´m afraid :-) I think I´ll ask them if there´s any idea to keep me working on the weekend any more.
Soon two persons in my departement will loose their jobs because the state of the world finanses, but with my surgery comming up we might have a chance to save one job. We need one more person who knows how to operate the machine I´m painting with and to be there when I´m gone. We just have to hold our thumbs and cross our fingers for that.
Have a great day now!

An old Mission church now transformed to a home. This is getting more and more common.

Outside the bigger cities houses mostly doesn´t get any higher than this. Even in Gothenburg most houses doesn´t get higher than twelve floors.

Most houses is hidden behind tress and bushes all over the countrie if close to a big road. Hard to belive that there are hundreds of houses here.

This appartement building isn´t that far from where I live. There are some similar buildings all over the country.

But on the other side of the raod there is an old farm.

Congratulations! You'll soon be known as a bionic man. I'm looking back at the pond picture and YUP, he built that pond for the kitties. Am I right? They look like they are in heaven. Did you say fish? OK then. Thanks for giving us a tour to the doctor. Do you know how much rent one pays at that apartment building? Have a great last day off!

Grattis!

Wonderful news about your hip surgery!

Curious as to take on the American debate raging over "socialized" medicine...LOL.

I personally have health insurance, but feel that there needs to be something more than medicare and medicaid in our country...so many fall thru the cracks. Just my opinion...I'm sure many would (and do) disagree with me.

Oh well, that's what makes the world such an interesting place.

BTW...thanks for the driving tour to your doctor's office. I truly enjoyed seeing "big(ger) city life in Sweden!

Blessings,
Valerie

Hi Z&M!
Both me and my neighbour will have spare parts all over our bodies soon :-) He´s way ahead of me yet though :-)

One can think I mad the pond for them, they spend most of their time around it, trying to find out a way to catch the fishes without getting wet :-) :-)
I have no idea how much rent is on those appartements, but I heard that a friend payed around 5300 swedish kronas /month for a small three room appartement, that would be around 690 US dollars I think (I´m not sure if water and electric was included in the rent then).
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Christer.

Hi Abby!
Thanks!
Yes Erna is doinf fine, today she even jumped around when we were going on our little walk. If there is going to be a crises after the snake bite it´ll happen this weekend and a couple a days more. If nothing happens she´ll be ok :-)

Piglet is also doing great :-) I love my little green car :-) It´s so nice not to have to worry about the car, if it´ll start or not :-)
have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Valerie!
Yes that´s great news :-) Now I only hope that swine flu or anything else wount stop it. But people working at hospitals gets vaccinated first of course.

Since I´m not an American I have very big troubles understanding why peopl doesn´t want health care for every one. Over here all people living in Sweden, including illegal immgrants now day I think, is included in the insurance. We pay the healthcare with our taxes and there is a fee we pay when going to the doctor or pharmasist. BUt this surgery wount cost me more that 1900 swedish kronor I think, that would be around 250 US dollars. If I need medicine it´s the same ammount. That is what we pay as maximum a year for healthcare from our own pockets.

But we´ve had that sytem for ages so I´m used to it. Perhaps it´s frightning for people not used to it? We still have one of the best health cares in the world, even if we sometimes have to wait for surgeries and so.

I wish more pictures had come out better so You could have gotten a chanse to see more on my little trip to Skövde.
have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Renee and welcome to my little blog!
So they live in Skövde! I worked at Volvo there for almost eight years, before I decided to try my wings and start a gardencenter. That didn´t work so now I´m a powder painter in a small village called Kvänum.

Thanks for reading my blog! I´ll check in on Yours too!
Have a great day now!

I get such a kick out of seeing cats and dogs close like that. Ours were like that...and it delighted my children. I do miss having a cat...a lot. But at my age I am sort of reluctant to get a new animal.
I have heard of churches being turned into homes here also. You can honestly say you live in the house of the Lord then I suppose without first going to heaven as the Christains believe. :) I guess I should not joke about such things...I have a rather dark sense of humor at times. :)
Here in California people are not always welcoming of apartment buildings as crime is a huge thing here and people fear that people coming and going is not good. Ah well... :)
I love that the trees hide the homes...that way it does not look so crowded...
( I am awfully chatty today. Sorry! )
I am off to see what else I have missed.

Hi Mona!
:-) :-) :-) Yes one really lives in the house of the lord :-) I almost bought a church too, but found this home instead. It was to much to do with the old church before I really could live there. The toilettes was in the basement, but one had to go outside and around the church to reach them :-) Not good if one is in a hurry :-) :-)

I love all the trees we have close to the houses, it softens the sounds from the road too.

Here it´s mostly neighbourhoods that can be disliked ,not so much appartement buildings. I remember when Young when all felt secure living in appartements, because it was close to neighbours and help if needed. Nowdays most people doesn´t know their neighbourws at all in appartement buildings. Times has changed.
Christer.
