The sky has been clody all day and at work it raines heavily for quite sime time.

I left my car at the garage before work this morning and walked to my job. When doing so I can pass a secondhand shop. I can´t remember if the earnings goes to a soccer team or something else. If I feel I have the time i look in to the shop to see if they have anything I might like, usually they don´t. By that I don´t mean that they doesn´t have anything interesting inside though, but I can´t see that far into the shop. Especially not when there´s no daylight :-)

I hope that You haven´t got tired of looking at tree stumps and mushrooms, because it´ll be a lot of that in todays blog :-)

Today I had time, so I stopped to look inside. In one of the windows my eyes directly found something I really wants! A big clock! It´s perhaps 50cm high (that would be around 20 inches) and slightly thinner. It´s rectangular in shape and we call it "America clock". It was so dark that I couldn´t see the price tag, so all day I have walked around thinking of this clock :-) So I finished work a bit early to get my car and naturally walk by the store on my way there :-)

I know that the shop isn´t open every day and today was one of those days. The price is 300 swedish kronor, that would be around 42 US dollars or 48,2 Australian dollars. There was a note attached to the clock that the glockenspiel (do You really say that in english? That´s what Google translation says anyway) doesn´t work. Well, it´s quite common that people disable that because they think it´s to loud :-)

Blushing mountain mushroom. I have eaten a lot of this mushroom without problems, but now I´ve read that it contains toxic proteins. Usually those proteins gets destroyed by cooking and by the stomac acids. But it can still give some people that has problems creating those acids in the stomac. One uses the hat, the stem is like eating wood :-)

I really want this clock, so I hope that they don´t sell it before I can get there tomorrow! If I´m successful buying it, I´ll post a picture of it on thursdays blog when I´m back again.

Yesterday was the first day of lobsterfishing season. The season is very short so most people will start early. Naturally the wind was so strong today that most people didn´t dare to go out to fetch the lobster pots. Unfortunally for those fishing lobster the wind will be rather strong tomorrow too. Only the professional fishermen went out today and the price for the first lobster were over 1000 swedis kronor /kg, that would be around 142,5 US dollars/ 2,2 pounds or 161,3 Australian dollars/kg. Perhaps I should be a lobster fisherman :-)

Well it´s time to read all Your blogs now, so take it easy and have a great time until we meet on thursday again!

I like to look at the mushroom pictures Christer. It's like walking through an enchanted forrest. Great shots today, top photo has a little romance to it. Hope you get the clock you found. Those stores are funny over here. Mostly we bargain the price but most often the item is broken or has a dent or other feature that you wouldn't find in a department store. I usually check those stores for lawn items, stuff for my work bench which is grossly overpriced at lumber stores. Have a great blogger day off!

Hi Z&M!
Glad You like it, because there will probably be a lot of that the comming time :-) I really have to get out from my village more :-) :-)

We almost never bargain or haggle about the price in Sweden. I´m so useless at it that I probably would pay even more just not have to haggle :-) :-) :-) I know of only one place, down in Gotheburg, where one is seen as stupid if one doesn´t haggle. I never goe there :-) :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

We have one of those clocks (heritage). But actually it´s still not up after we redecorated the house! Funny how "heavy" it seems to be to get some "works" done... Hm...?!;-) Well...;-) Any way - we always stop the slock from that sound. One will go crazy otherwise!;-)

Christer..I'm like Zoey and Me...I never get tired of looking at all those odd mushrooms. It's like something out of a MAD magazine at times. Just the strangest looking things, unreal looking!
You found a clock? :) I noticed you mentioned mine. It is a steeple clock and it is hand painted on the inside and is from Bristol Connecticut. I have had it about 34 years now. I have seen some similar but not just like it. Mine is very well made and is numbered. It has a very soft chime to it. The large Grandfather clock in the living room is LOUD..and we can hear it bonging clear into the bedroom. It...is a comforting sound though. Sounds like "home" if you know what I mean.
Yes...I do like Fall or Autumn as it is also called.
I hope you get your clock. A house is not a home unless you can hear the hours being struck. :)

goodness...even the mushrooms have fall colors...California does not have the colors, or very few, that the east coast has. Howard says it is just getting more and more beautiful back there now...he is flying home in the morning..and will arrive here at noon. :) The two week flew by..but the dragged by too! You know? Of course you do!

happy fall season, Christer!

i too am a fan of those mushroom photos!! the forest floor does have a lot of surprises, don't they? most of the time, it only lasts a day or so, and whhhooossshhh it's gone! only to show you another surprise the next day...

i have to tell you that i thought of writing poetry with your photos on it on my blog...so, may i have your permission? i will mention your name and your blog if you don't mind. (just tell me if not ok)they are so beautiful that they have inspirited me to put in words some inner thoughts...

i thought of writing on "the small, the hidden, the beautiful". you seem to see the wonder of the little things in nature and has retained that sense of awe and wonder that sadly, so many of us have lost but, have brought it back to your readers!...hope it is alright with you?

thanks again! go gently through the fall season...

Hi Joyce!
:-) :-) :-)
The America clock isn´t especially american I think. But I have no idea why they call it that. Perhaps they were easy to bring when one emigrated to America because of its shape? But I´ve always wanted one :-)

It´s only the first lobsters that cost that much :-) It´s the same with new potatoes, the price is sky high for the first ones, but restaurants that wants to serv the first new potatoes for the year (or lobsters ofcourse) pay any price :-)

A new lens! Great! I´m looking forward to pictures taken with that then! I think I have grown up, I actully reads some from the instruction books nowdays :-) :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Mona!
More mushrooms will be shown then :-) Yes they sure is strange sometimes. This year I´ve seen some really strange one that I´ve never seen before. Some actully looks a bit scary to be honest :-) :-)

Yes that clock of Yours is really nice! It´s the first time I´ve seen any one look like that. I too love that heavy bong Your Grandfather clock gives :-) This one should give something close to that and it is a sound that says home :-)

I was a bit surprised over some of the colors those mushrooms had. But I think it´s the drought that made them look like that. I´ve never seen that before.

I fully understands what You mean with that time both has flown away and stopped totally :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Weena!
Lets start with that I would be honored if You would like to use my pictures to Your poetry! So I give You permission to use any picture You feel fits.

Since summer is so short here most things in the forest stays at least a week or two before dissapering again. But in Your warm climate it´s a different thing. I would love to walsk around in Your world and take pictures there. Even if it´s very different it can also be very much alike I think, just different species.

Most people never sees the smaller things in the world, they are too busy trying to do all other stuff in life. I love to get close so I can see the beuty they have too. May take some time but it´s worth it!
Have a great day now!
Christer.
