The cold front has arrived and I like it :-) But I don´t want it to last too long, my vacation starts in four days :-)

It feels like something has been lifted from my head now when the cold front has arrived. It will still be rather warm today, but the winds are strong and cools our heads making life feel so much easier. Perhaps I might be able to move up to my bedroom again already this night :-)

I finaly got my early mornings back. I have troubles every time we change from common time to summer time. My brain and body tells me that I´m up an hour early every day and the same going to bed. That makes me tired all the time. But now I´m back :-) It was a joy taking our walk already at six am. The cool air and strong winds made air light and flies hidding in the bushes.

This clematis flower just hangs there in the air. It took a long time until I could see the stem that held it there :-)

I think this is a Centaurea scabiosa, Greater knapweed. We can find it everywhere arund my village.

I have an extra free day today. The firm that sends us the ventilation pipes I paint at weekends have troubles sending them in time, so I finished painting everything yesterday. But I´m not complaining :-) I had hours to use so why stay at work if not nessesary :-)
This I know what it is though, it´s an Achillea millefolium or Yarrow. It loves my garden and I have it everywhere. The flowers are usually pure white, but can also be light purple. If You have stomac troubles it can help putting some of this plant in a cup of tea.

It´ll probably be a lot of rain these comming days, but who cares. It´ll be nice to sleep well again and we really need the falling water from the sky. Lets just hope that no more roofs falls down because of to much rain :-)
Have a great day now, I will!

Primula vialii, Chinese pagoda primrose . We call this one for Hyacinth primula. Must grow in wet peat in a shadowy spot.

Lemon thyme.

I also have trouble with the time change every year. It takes me about a week to adjust to it!

I hope the weather improves a bit for you. It has been an unusually cool summer for us here in Michigan.

Have a great day! :-)

Hi R,A&a!
For me it takes a month or two to adjust. If they want summertime why nor have it all year then? A study shows that the heart attack rate inkreases dramaticly the days they change the time.

I hope that we can have this cool weather this week and then get back to a bit warmer again, but not so hot as we´ve had these last weeks. That was simply too hot :-)
Have a great day too!

Love that Lemon Thyme. I also heard that blackberry leaves are good to brew for stomach upsets. I only see the flavored tea bags in the stores here, not the same thing. It's the leaves that offer a cure. So Christer, you are a short timer, four more days. I guess you've started the countdown. What will you do with your pets when you leave for vacation up north?

Hi Z&M!
I´ve also heard that blacberrie leaves are good for the stomac, so I´ll probably pick some during this summer. No the flavoured tea just tastes good :-)

My dogs will come with me on the trip. I´ll only be away for four days, so my cats will stay here at home. My neighbours will keep an eye on them for me. The persons I´ll visit has one of Ernas puppies and she looks very much like her mom.
Have a great day now!

Christer, I thought we here in the States were the only ones stupid enough to create the fiction called 'Daylight Savings Time' ... and how come they do it during the LONGEST periods of daylight? It'd make more sense to do it in winter if it's gonna be done. It'd be better to do away with it and return to REAL time. My 'biological clock' gets just as messed up as yours, too.

Are you also a botanist? I know what flowers look like, but I have no idea of their Latin names. You're providing quite an education for a lot of us who like flowers but don't know their correct name. It's good to know what we're looking at. The pix are also nicely composed and lit. Thanks for taking the time to share your part of the world with us ...

hi christer...that chinese pagoda flower is really cool. it's nice to get a break from the hot weather. we are warming up again but i hope it doesn't stay too hot. i am being lazy today. too much cooking for yesterday's party. i got fooded out! i hate daylight savings time. i think it is unnatural. it takes me a week each year to adjust to it.

Hi Richard!
No Your not the only ones :-) All of europe does it too. I remember reading something about it and in the text they explained that they started to do this to save money. First time they tested this was over hundred years ago I think.

Something to do with saving energy by not having lights on. Can´t for my life understand how this can save energy, especially up here in the north where we have daylight most of the day now.

Well I don´t think botanist is correct, but I did have a gardencenter for a short time and plants, trees and bushes has always been a big interest of mine.

My pleasure to show my part of the world :-)
Have a great day now!

Hi Joyce!
I like that primula too, but it´s usually short lived so I hope it will self sow in the peat flowerbed.

It´ll be cool for a couple of days over here they say, but then it´ll turn again, But I do hope it wount be that hot again. Today has been a blessing with its cool air and rain :-)
Have a great day now!

Hi Nina!
Thought it would be as nce today as yesterday, but it´s rather warm now and the rain added to the heat makes it feel like walking in a steam bath :-)
Two workingdays left to vacation now :-)
have a great day now!
