The first snow!

We sat and ate breakfast when we got the news that the first snow had fallen just a couple of kilometers away (just a couple of miles away)! I have to say that this was news I really didn´t want to hear, not yet anyway :-) :-) But the snow melted as fast as it hit the ground, so that´s good news anyway. I don´t want to hear about more snowfall until at least November again.

The trees has fiery colors, the sky is dark blue grey and the rainbow shines. Can it be better than that?

It rained all the way home, but when i reached my cottage the sun started to break through the clouds. I can feel that frost is in the air and I should really place my car in the garage. But every time I do that mice seemes to think it´s their second home :-) I put traps in the car but they just don´t care about those. I wonder what food is best to bate the trap with, nuts?

After the snowfall the rain came. There had come a lot of new mushrooms during the day just because the long needed rain.

Lichens on a tree stump.

My little cottage is a bit chilly right now. There´s a fire in the stove but the heat seemes to want to stay down stairs. I know that when it starts to rise all the warm air will fill my bedroom and make it unbarebly warm :-) :-)

From October first we are allowed to put studded tires on our cars, from November first we must have some kind of winter tire by law. Hearing about the first snow today made me start to think about changing to my studded tires. I don´t like to change tires, it´s heavy dirty and I always feel beaten afterwards. So this year I think I´ll go to a garage so they can change them for me :-) It doesn´t cost a lot so I better call to hear when they can do it. Well it´s time for a cup of tea or perhaps cocoa if I have any. As long as it´s warm it´s perfect :-)
Have a great day now!

Your top photo is a really good one! What is it? I may have to steal it for my blog. This post has a real country feel to it. I won't see snow this year as I'm staying here in Florida. I hated it when I lived up north except for when I was a kid and then of course, loved to go sledding. I even learned to play ice hockey. Those were the days. I hate getting old but when I get a little older I will want to find a place in the country like you have. Enjoy your tea.

Hi Z&M!
Thats the entrance to my house, Steel it if You want to :-)

I´m not to fond of snow either. It´s nice around Christmas, but otherwise it´s just a pain in the ..... :-)

I don´t mind getting old, as long as I´m relativly healthy it´s ok with me. I dread the day I can´t walk around in the forest any more, I hope it´ll take long time until then!
have a great day now!

Christer.

Good afternoon Christer...little snow eh? Well here in CA where I live, I probably won't see snow. In Oregon I did and I liked it as long as the power did not go out or I had to drive in it.
You house is nice and I love the rainbow pic. The more I see of Sweden the more I want to visit.
Enjoy your tea.

Hi Nina!
Yes I´m really happy that it didn´t stay! It´s a bit early yet I think.

Yes, they are clever those little rodents :-)

The weather made it easy to take good pictures :-)
have a great day now!

Hi Diane!
Lucky You :-) But snow do look nice around Christmas :-) We seldom, thankfully, have power breakdowns around here, but the roads can be a mess when we have snow.

The weather really was a great help when taking photoes :-)
have a great day now!

Hi Aussimade!
We are already below 4C now and it´s not even dark! But we usually have it like this for a short time, then warmer air will come back. I really hope it´s the same this year too :-)

I´mm looking forward to see spring pictures from You when it all starts for real down under :-)
have a great day now!

How did I miss this post?!!!

Wow, that dark heavy sky with beautiful rainbow is amazing!

I know up in our higher elevations (Colorado, Wyoming, Montana) they have already had snowfall.)

Brrrr...not quite ready for that. Afterall, we still need to get through Halloween...nothing worse than trick or treating in snow with a heavy coat on over one's costume!!!

Hi Valerie!
The sky was fantastic yesterday! One side were really dark and the other sunny. It´s easy to take good pictures then :-)

It is a bit early for snow here too, up in the alps yes, but not here :-)

It would be a shame if they had to have coats over their costumes when trick or treating! I hope that the weather is warm until then!
Have a great day now!
Christer.

What a beautiful rainbow picture Christer.
I found my Swedish ancestry book & found I have relatives from Veddige in Halland County. Is that anywhere near where you live?

Hi Barb!
It was actully a doible rainbow, but the second one wa so weak that I couldn´t see it in any picture. But the dark sky behind really helped showing this one.

Veddige is further south, so it´s not that near. But I have actully been there a couple of timnes many years ago. It´s a beautiful little place.
Have a great day now!
Christer.
