We have a couple of different species of Butter cups here in Sweden and this one is one of the nicer that doesn´t spread that much, Ranunculus acris. It grows just beside the door to my wood shed/dog yard/garage. All pictures can be enlargend by clicking on them.

I was sitting and thinking about my comming pond projekt last evening and wondered about how much rubber carpet (or should I say rubber cloth?) I had to buy. I know there´s a mathematic formula that goes something like the length x width x depth times two and then some extra to the pond edges. So I went online and found an internet store (they have a regular store too) that already had that formula in the webbsite. So I wrote down the measurements I wanted and the site told me I needed 16 square meters of the carpet. But it sounds rather much to me. When I count it my self I would only need half that size. But I ordered from them anyway. If there´s to much of it I can simply dig another small pond somewhere else in the garden.

They´ll send my order already today, so with a bit of luck I´ll have the order here by Friday. The weather will not allow me to start digging until earliest next Monday and it´ll take some time to get it finished due to my bad hip and leg. But I´m in no hurry and have all summer to get it finished. Later I have to buy a waterpump with filter too, so the water stays clear all the time. Since I´m planning to have the pond in a rather shadowy place I´m not worried that it will be to much of algies in the pond. At least not as long as I don´t have fish or other animals (like frogs for instance) in it. I´ll show You pictures so You can se how things progress with it.

Some parts of my garden looks rather like somewhere out in the forest. I let the plants take care of them selves and they create the most beautiful combinations. Like here with yellow filled Greater celandine (Chelidonium majus) and blue Forgetmenots.

This is a flowerbed I haven´t taken care of for years, so now there´s almost only weeds in it. But it´s sort of beautiful anyway. But I think I´ll take care of it this summer, nettles has started to grow there and they can be really difficult to get rid of.

A primula I got on a plants exchanging day last year. Rather beautiful don´t You think?

Aquilegias can look as they please, this one had a 'Nora Barlow' as one of its parents.

Oxeye daisy.

The single flower of the larkspur is really beautiful.

It was sunny when I woke up and we had some sun during our morning walk too. But now the clouds lay thick and one almost can feel how the rain just hangs in the air waiting to get permission to fall down. The heavy rains wount come until tomorrow but, the weather doesn´t invite to outdoor activities as it is right now either, even if it´s rather warm. It´ll be a day of lazyness and relaxing instead I think. It´s to early and warm to start a fire in the stove, but it´s never to early for a pot of tea.
Have a great day now!

The Welsh poppy, Mecenopsis cambrica, is said to be a weed but not here unfortunally.

The Oriental poppy, Papaver orientale is a weed however. I´ve tried for years to get rid of it and has now given up :-) It´s beautiful for a day or so and after that it´s just plain uggly. I know some people are jelaouse of me just because they want it but only dies for them :-)

Iris sibirica. Now some of my irises finally has started to bloom or have lots of buds.

Beautiful is the word for it. Can't wait to see the plans for the pond. Enjoy your days off with what looks like good weather there.

Hi Z&M!
They rang a moment ago and will send the pakage by bus. It´ll probably come here already tomorrow, but we´re going to get anything but digging weather.

They say thet it´ll rain more than it has done for a couple of months :-) But it doesn´t matter, I´ll take it easy indoors instead :-)
Have a great day now!

Your flowers are beautiful! I can't wait to see progress on the pond. My neighbor a few doors down has a backyard pond. I should ask him if I can photograph it. He has done a remarkable job transforming a rather flat and barren backyard into a wetland oasis. He has multiple tiers to his pond that include waterfalls; different grasses, flowers, etc. I haven't been up close and personal so I don't know if one of the ponds is a koi pond, but from my 2nd story window I can catch a view and his backyard looks so inviting.

Take care,
Valerie

Hi Valerie!
Strange, I posted an answer to You and it got published, but now it´s gone???

Anyway, Would be interesting to see some pictures of Your neighbours garden. I myself is to lazy to do so big changes here, but I admire those who has the strength to do so.

The wetaher wount permit any digging for a while, so I hope that I can start next thursday when I get a four day holiday :-)
Have a great day now!

hi christer...one of the reasons i decided to post my collections is because i realized that most people have no idea all this witch stuff exists! i can't wait to follow your pond progress. i will post some good pics of my ponds so you can take a good look at them. one is being repaired as i type and another is shut down until they can totally rebuild it. they give me headaches! the stream is not running while the repair dries so maybe this would be a good chance to photograph them while they sit still. i am sitting here waiting for big storms to arrive. we are supposed to have big thunder and lightening. have a nice relaxing day! joyce

Hi joyce!
It´s incredible how many witch things there are and You have! My mother once collected trolls so I know how much there´s out there with trolls in it, but I think that´s there even more witches.

It was when I saw glimpses of Your pinds in Your blog and then found that ditch with the deep hole in it that I decided it was time to start making a pond if I ever was going to get one :-) So please show mw some pictures of Your ponds!

Storms is comming here to now. Sometime tonight they say. It´s almost so I can feel it in the air now. You now the feeling one can get before thunder. When the first thunder is heard my computor will be unplugged.
Have a great day despit storms !

Your coming pond will be a great addition to the flowers and nature all round your home you truely have a GREAT place to live. Your blog has brought many hours of pleasure to me and many others. Hope the digging is easy and all goes well with it.

Hi Woody!
I hope that the poind will be a great addition anyway, but it can be a total mess to if I´m unlucky :-) :-)

It was the best thing I´ve ever done when I decided to move out here to the country side. It has had its ups and downs, but mostly ups :-)

It´s mostly sand under the surface so I don´t think it´ll be to much work, but there can be surprises I know nothing about when I started to dig.
Have a great day now!

What a neat post. I had no idea there was a site where you could go and have everything figured out for you. Is there anything you can't find on the net? (nope..not if you know where to look!) :)

And the pond..hmmm...might fool you. Better to have too much cloth than too little! And..if there is left over...another little pond next to the big one with a waterfall into the second. Little into big...type of thing. A bit more complicate..but hey..it would be worth it to hear a waterfall...If you have an email address I will send you a photo of one that does that..it is at my daughters home...
s'up to you :)
Ok..about that silly game. Christer goodness. Please don't do that silly game. I even put on there that if you didn't want to ..you didn't have to ...it's a pain sometimes...that is one reason I went award free..but ..LOL forgot the "tag" thingy...
Your flowers are always so beautiful. What a place to live!! It is so beautiful!

Hi Mona!
No, there´s nothing You can´t find on the internet :-) Now I checked the size on that rubber carpet on other places and they all give me the same size as the first place, so I guess it must be right then. My friends has a waterfall in their pond and the sound is really nice, but since I probably not will get anything over that woun´t be built over in my garden (at least not in the nearest future, after that who knows :-) ).

Of course I´ll do the game :-) The problem is that I always delete all my pictures when I have used them here, so I have to stop that for a while so I can get a picture at the right place :-)

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hejsan Katarina!

Christer.
