The village Tråvad, where I had my gardencenter is placed just beside the river Lidan. Some years ago one of the mothers in the village cleaned this place up and made a bathing place by the river. Since all kids bathed there anyway she thought it would be nice if they came home not only wet, but clean too. The place were really muddy then. Nowdays the visitors can buy candy and coffee/tea/soda with cakes , icecream, bunns and sandwiches there. They have also made two beachvolleyball corts there too and a soccer field. So most of the villagers are there when the weather is nice. (the water from the creek that I usually show pictures from here near my village finally comes in to this river)

They had a railway here too. The bridge is still there, but the trains are long gone. When the railway dissapered the village sort of got in to a long, long sleep that still goes on.

It´s a really nice summerday today. Not much sun, a bit of drizzle but no wind and rather warm. It was a pleasure to take the walk with my dogs after work today. The birds sang and all flowers smelled nice after the big rains.

People that went with the train threw out half eaten aplles through the windows when closing in to the station at Tråvad. Nowdays there are growing a lot of apple trees along the now gone railway. All are edible and some are really good, but one sort is delicious! It´s the best aplle I´ve ever eaten. I have been thinking about grafting some branches on my apple trees but I have no idea what sort pollinates this apple so I might just get flowers and no apples.

It´s such a beautiful place. The bath bridges hasn´t been put out yet though. The vegetation on the right is on a small island in the river. Mean geese usually nest there :-)

We´ve had some troubles with things dissapering at work for a while now. Doors has been unlocked when we´re comming in the mornings, but the alarm has not started. It´s just small things, yet. This morning I and my dogs went in to my boss office to prepare for working (I did that, my dogs just looked at me :-) ), when suddenly a large metallic bang sounded. It sounded like a pipe had fallen to the floor. I´m not stupid and has no urge to play heroe, so I stayed for a minute or two in the office and then got out to see what had fallen to the floor.

Now the island is on the left beside the picture.

Sword lilies are flowering on the island now. The sword lily is the only Iris that grows wild in Sweden. We had one more before but that is gone now. I think I´m going to have swordlilies in my pond.

I didn´t find anything that could explain the sound anywhere so it must have been the thief that dropped something on the floor while getting out of the factory. I called the owner of course and it seemes someone has copied two keys nearby because there was a bill sent to the factory a couple of weeks ago, but no one has autherised any copying what so ever. There were of course no signature on the bill. After talking to the owner I went to work as usual, but didn´t go inside without my dogs all day :-)

The other side of the bridge. This river is full with crayfish, something we love in Sweden.

Just beside the bridge is a great place to fish. I used to sit there warm evenings by my self if possible. But usually all kids in Tråvad found me :-) :-)

We´re actully getting some sun these comming days :-) But when midsummer comes the rain comes too. Midsummer is a very big thing here in Sweden and I´ll explain all about it later comming week. I myself doesn´t celebrate it, I think it´s sad when we´re slowly turning towards autumn and winter again. Why celebrate thet?
Have a great day now!

and now i learn something new. swedes like crawfish??? how do you eat them? crawfish are very popular in new orleans. they call them mud bugs. they steam or boil them with spices. they pull the heads off and suck the juice out of them. i make cajun food and some years ago i had a cajun party. the guest never had cajun food. i wore an apron that said "suck the heads". people were walking around saying....i am never going to suck the heads on those crawfish. then someone tried one. next thing everyone was standing around ripping off crawfish heads and sucking on them. seems like it is time to change the locks at work! joyce

Great story on the river park looks like a great place to spend some time. What a nice bridge left by the railroad.

Hi joyce!
Yes we love crayfish, both them from the ocean and those from freshwater. We do just the same but uses different spices. Dill crowns, a tad sugar, salt and some use a kind of beer called Porter in it too. They taste delicious :-)

Locks and the codes to the alarm too I think :-)
Have a great day now!

Beautiful place to spend a weekend, eh Christer. I would go there often if I lived near it and yes, I love that bridge. Thanks so much for capturing the river views on camera for us. Sorry about your work place being broken into. Maybe it's time for the owners to hire security guards. Have a great weekend.

Hi Z&M!
Yes Tråvad is really beautiful and totally calm :-) I never had to bring the plants I had outside my gardencenter inside over night. I lost totally three plants during my time there :-)

Security guards comes now and again, but the one breacing in prtobably knows where to hide inside the factory.
Have a great day now!

Christer.

What beautiful pictures you camera is taking...the bridge...all of it. just beautiful.
The theif...I have to tell you that it isn't good to come upon a theif. My husband and I did once...he was robbing an apartment and a child called us when he heard the break in. We rushed down..he was inside just coming out..and..he had a gun..stuck in his back belt but his hands were full of stolen items..and he just verbally warned us to back off. We did...but I called him a bad name and said I would recognize him if I ever saw him again...and I would...but...it was a stupid thing to do...AND say! I'm still alive..but...I'm lucky! Odd...he looked just like the man next door. Clean cut...dressed very well..shaved and combed...amazing! Not at all what you expect. BE CAREFUL! Ok? I KNOW you are not stupid..but...coming upon a thief is especially dangerous. So..just be careful until the locks are all changed.

Hi MOna!
Tråpvad is so beautiful! There are only a few appartement buildings, the rest is mostly very old villas. I have to take more pictures the next time I´m there.

Since I knew that we have had thiefs in the factory I didn´t take any chanses. I wouldn´t risk my dogs or my on life for a burgular. So I waited so long so I knew who ever it might be there had the chanse to get away. Normally thiefs doesn´t have guns here, but since we joined the EU they are easier to come by unfortunally. But I didn´t want to be beaten down by soeone with a hammer or something else either :-)

Now when I´ll be alone in the factory I´ll shout when I go in so I can be heard alredy from the beginning and I´ll always have my dogs with me, they are big so they can at least look scary :-)
Have a great day now!

Sorry, I still don´t know how to get in to a comment and change the text in it. I know one can do that in my other blog, but on blogger I have no idea how to do that.
Christer.
