Sunset yesterday. I wonder how it would have looked like if there still were all that vulcanic ashes in the air, because there were almost none last night.

It´s cold in my cottage. It´s so cold that I can´t be inside without wearing a sweater, but it is my own fault so don´t feel sorry for me :-) The sun is shining, there´s almost no wind and I have the kitchen door and some windows fully open :-) It´s strange really how one can feel so different to the same temperature. Outside it feels rather nice walking around in the garden, but inside it feels terrible :-) :-)

Can You see that it is a sort of yeloowish tone to the tree tops? The populus are flowering and that means the leafs will come soone and then the Portal will be closed again :-)

But I like it when I can open all doors and windows to let out the winter feeling from my home, even if it feels like winter indoors when doing it. For some reason it feels much better even if I have to start a fire in the stove like any winters day to get it warm and nice again. It´s perfect to vacuum now to since my dogs lay out in the sun beside the apple tree. It´s strange really, they aren´t afraid of the sounding machine at all, but the cleaner nozzle seemes to be almost deadly to them. I wonder why?

Willows has started to bloom too. Now the bumble bees have something to eat.

Primulas too, but this is really a little lies since they still are in their pots on my entrance stairs :-)

And the Lung wort.

I´ve started the pond pump and filter for the season today too. The water in the pond was so clear after this winter so I did winder if I should care to start it all now in spring. I want the pond to be like something You can find in the nature, so I don´t keep it to clean to be honest. I mostly have the pond because I like dragon flies and I had hoped that frogs would come to it (hopefully not toads though since last years drool session Hector had when he ate a small one :-) :-) ) But the sun makes the water to cirkulate and so it got less clear again, so it was necessary to start it. It´s not really a pond for fish, but since I don´t want to have a paradise for mosquitoes I´ll put three Fantail goldfishes in it when the water is warmer (fantails are more delicate so it would be a deadly chock for them if I did it now) and they´ll have to survive on what they can find in the pond and that is enough for them if the pond isn´t brand new. There are no photographs on the pond yet since there are nothing to show yet.

Do You remember that I told You that they had torn down the old red cottage by thr road? For some strange reason they let the side entrance and one room?!

They also left the old what ever it now was :-) Stange behaviour to be honest.

Now I´ll take a cup of tea with me and stay outside in the sunshine for a while. We will get a couple of days with sunshine and warm southern winds now so I better enjoy it while I can. The beginning of May will be as cold as most of April were.

Have a great day now!

Yay Portal! I can't wait to see it close again this year. It is very strange, Christer, to see part of a house left, if in fact, someone was intent on removing it, tearing it down. Maybe they ran out of money and couldn't pay the demolition team for another full day to finish. I can't think why they would leave it like that. It does look strange. Is that an outhouse in the second photo from those shots? Maybe a building for tool storage? Sunshine and tea . . . sounds like a plan!

Hi Z&M!
Yes it does look very strange! But I think It´s the castle owner that ownes this property too and I can´t imagine he´s out of money. It would have taken perhaps five more minutes to tear it down totally :-)

I´m not sure what that is in that photo. I´ve always belived it was a pig stie or something like that, but then I realised that it had a chimney. It can have been there that a handy man lived or perhaps it is an old wash house? I´ll look in to it one day.

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi, Christer

Lovely sunset. Looks like there was still some ash left to make the colors.

I think dogs go after the cleaner nozzle on the vacuum because that's the part that's moving. My dog hates the vacuum and goes to cower by the front door if I use it. He ignores the battery powered carpet sweeper, though. No vaccum, little noise so it must be okay.

Time for me to go for breakfast. Have a lovely pot of tea.

Hi Caryn!
That was a rather normal color on the clouds when the sun goes down here actually. So I doubt there were much ashes, but who knows.

The sound from the vacuumer doesn´t bother them much to be honest, just the nozzle. Perhaps they think it will eat them too :-) :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

I like the sunset photo; very nice. I also like the Portal picture, with the road. I like pictures with paths in them. It leaves it open to the imagination where they're going.

I understand very much about opening the windows - sometimes it feels cooler inside than it does outside (with the breeze) but you're right, it's nice to let winter 'out'.

hi christer....it is good to see the portal closing! it is often much warmer outside than it is in my house. i try to trap the cold inside so it is comfortable when we sleep. it is gloomy here today. my favorite kind of day! we might get as much as 2 inches of rain today and i sure hope we do! back to work for me. i am making bolognese today! joyce

That's the best part of spring, for me, Christer, is to open all the windows and doors and let the fresh air remove the winter from the house. And, I really want the house chilly for that. Seems to do a better job (or, it's my imagination -- but, it's my house, so that's the brain that gets to make the call!). Enjoy your cup of tea in the sunshine...

Oh! My friend gave me some limbs from her Rosemary bush. Is it possible to root them? I've got them in standing water, right now, just to keep them fresh.

Hi Perovskia!
Normally I don´t like clouds, but when the sun goes up or down they are perfect. Sometimes it looks like the sky is burning :-)

I´ve closed the door and windows and a fire is burning in the stove. There´s absolutly no feeling of winter inside any more :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Sharlene!
I like it too, even if it got a bit to cold for a while. But the sun warmed up the air and it almost got nice inside after a while :-) But now all winter is gone inside my little cottage :-)

It shouldn´t be any problems with rooting cuttings from the Rosemary. You can have them in water and they should start giving roots within a week or so. Or You can put them in pots with sandy soil. If I remember correct they should be a bit woody in the bottom. Or was that when one took cuttings in autumn? Why don´t try both woody and not woody cuttings if You have enogh.

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Joyce!
Yes seeing the protal getting green sort of gives hope for the future :-)

Normally my cottage is much warmer inside than it is outside, but once a year I love to get the cold air inside. Now it´s so nice to have the fire in the stove and feel the warm air fill my home :-) No winter left here :-)

I hope You´ll get that rain that You need now. We didn´t get that much yesterday, but we still have a lot of water in the grounds here.

Bolognese!! Jummy!
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Sharlene!
I´ve checked around some now and it seemes most recommend Rosemary cuttings to not have woody stems now in spring, but woody in autumn. They will get roots easy anyway :-)

It really is strange that they tore only a part of the little house down. Looks rather strange and sort of sad. Yes, people do do strange things. I agree. I am glad I don't live in a real cold climate but in one that I have such a moderate temperature. It's funny, but unless there is snow, it really does not look cold where you are. I smiled when I saw the beginning of the tree tops turning green. Soon now it will all be dark through there...such beautiful countryside! I am looking forward to seeing the pond this year.

Hi Mona!
Sad was what I thought when I saw it too. I wonder if they think it will fall by itself :-) :-)

Nights are still nasty cold here but the days are slowly getting warmer, but not fast enough for me I feel :-)

I hope I can do something with the pond this year so it´ll be worth taking photo´s of it.
Have a great day now!
Christer.
