Much of Skövde looks like this,

So up I went this morning and checked the thermometer seeing that it´s only -21,5C (-6F) outside! That wasn´t anything I wanted to see :-) :-) There were strangly enough no ice on the cars windows?

or this. Not something I think is beautiful.
But near the town square one can find really fine older buildings.

Since It was so cold I decided to let my dogs stay in the cottage while I was away, it should go pretty fast at the doctor since it was just a check up before the surgery. Well, it was a bit more actully.

This is a little hotel.

I talked to my doctor and he checked my blood pressure and tested how bad my leg was. But after that I had to give some blood, fill a lot of papers with info about myself, meet a physiotherapist and an occupational therapist and in the end I had a talk with the anesthetist that would take care of me during the surgery.

I can´t say that they had organised this especially good, it took some time, but that gave me a chance to talk with the man that will have his second surgery too at the same time as me. We agreed on having the tv on all the time since it´s the olympics. If one falls asleep but not the other he still can see the games :-)

I also met a woman that lives very close to me. Her problem was that the hipreplacement got loose from the hip all the time, so she had to get it done one more time to get it right.

When I came home I found 14 pounds of sunflower seeds spread all over my home. I can´t understand why they have to open up those bags since they don´t like to eat them. They had also manmaged to open up the door to the dog food. Hector, I know it´s him he has done it before, had then chewed through the bottom of one of the dog food bags and started to eat from it :-) :-) I won´t even mention what they had done to the cat littre box :-) :-) :-)

A tourist visting centre.

If You wonder how I´ll do with the blog when recovering from the surgery I will continue as usual. Well not the week when I´m at the hospital, but when I come home I´ll start again. I´ll leave a message here the first thing I come home. Now there´s a fire in the stove and a pot of tea will be made. Teodor is sleeping on the kitchen couch close to the food bowl :-) Bertil sleeps near the stove, Erna walks around looking at tye floor for something to eat and the two brothers sleeps on the floor next to me.

Have a great day now!

It was so nice to come home again :-)

I love the older buildings you showed in town. Lovely.
Dogs..well..that's what they do. I remember when I was staying with son #3 for his kidney replacement surgery, he said his dog Brian NEVER ever barked when he came home and it was because of Mele that all the barking took place. I told him that Mele had never barked when I came home and that it was Brian! Neither of us thought the other one was right. Sometimes when we drove up in the driveway and got out of the car, the dogs would be barking and barking wildly, we wouldn't go inside. We would just stand outside until they stopped. One time we just got back in the car and drove away. :) Poor things! They were confused and didn't bark much at all when we returned. We just drove around the block! :) The point is that when I moved out and Mele was alone again, she has never barked once when Howard and I come home. She waits quietly by the door to great us! So..probably Danny and I were both right. Dogs, like children, act up more when they are with their peers than when alone! :) Thus, the cat box incident..the open dog food and the other mischief they get into. Two heads are better than one, and THREE! Wow! The cottage is their Disneyland when you are gone!
Enjoy your tea.
Mona

How I hate going to doctors anymore. I will be glad when this surgery is all over for you and you are healed and back to your life without pain! Take care, Christer! :)

Hi Mona!
Yes dogs will be dogs :-) :-) The funny thing is that they never bark when they are alone in the cottage, but when they are in the dog yard they bark like crazy :-) :-)

It´s mostly Hector that starts doing these things, to be honest Orvar doesn´t have that capacity toi think that far. He´s a kind big gigant. Like I heard on the radio, the wheel is spinning but the mouse is dead :-) :-) :-) Hector on the other hand is like his old grandmother was, to smart :-)

I´m soo looking forward to this surgery now. I´m tired of not being able to do and go like I wish. But soon :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Christer,
The old buildings are my favorites. The hotel was perfectly lovely. I do enjoy these tours.

It is such a long process to prepare for surgery.

I had a dog who could open the bag and strew all the trash throughout the house in about 5 minutes if I happened to be foolish enough to leave a filled bag in the kitchen.

Hi Joyce!
I don´t think I´ll ever understand this thing for cat poop as dogs has. It smells awful :-) :-) My dogs does plenty if I don´t remove everything that might be of interest :-)

Yes one is a new person when the ace is gone and one can start moving without problems :-)
Have a great day now!

Hi Kat!
I think that some of those old buildings are quite new, but built in an old style. But those I´ve taken photo´s of is beautiful.

Nowdays I´ve seen to it that they can´t open the door to the garbage, they have spread that to many times now :-) :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Christer,

I enjoyed the tour of the little town. So pretty. And then I had to laugh at the antics of your dogs. They're like naughty two year olds getting into things.

Remind me again of when your surgery is taking place so I can send good thoughts your way.

Regards,

Linda in Chapel Hill

I like the photos of the older buildings too. I do see some comparing qualities in the new construction to what we have here. I am assuming they build them out stronger for harsh winters than they would build them for our Florida tropical weather, although you wouldn't really know it this year. We've had the worst winter for coldness on record. Time to move to Miami. Good idea to keep the TV going at the hospital. I'm arranging my schedule so I can be home earlier than usual. I think our coverage is like noon here when it's morning in Vancouver. Your episode with the dogs reminded me of last weekend. We baby proofed the kitchen cabinets because starting next week we have the new born baby here 7 hours a day. We are practicing for when he starts to crawl. It won't be long! You should baby proof your house before going in for surgery. Whoever helps you won't appreciate cleaning up after the dogs everyday. Enjoy your tea!

Hi Linda!
Yes dogs really can make a mess when they want to :-)

If everything goes as it should the surgery is done on 22/2.

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Z&M!
I´ve alwats wondered how it must be living in Your houses in Florida when it gets so cold as it did a while ago. I mean they really aren´t built for that cold weather.

Yes, baby proof houses goes well for people with dogs too. I´ll have to do that better.

I think it´s nine hours from Vancouver to us in time difference. So most of it will be in the evening and late night here. So I can really watch it when I´m at hospital :-) :-)

Have a great day now!
Christer.
