We have the kind of weather here today that doesn´t look especially inviting, but that is rather nice when You are out walking in it. It´s rather cool and cloudy with some fog visible in the distance. The wind is weak so the few mosquitoes that sill hangs around follows like devoted pets.

By the way, did You know that mosquitoes that carries the awful malaria bacteria also gets infected by it? I read about that in this mornings paper. But the mosquito has a different kind of immune system than we humans have. When it gets infected the immune system creates a special kind of bloodcells that kills the bacteria. It doesn´t kill the bacteria that it transfers to us unfortunately.

I´ll pick some leafs and other things later today so I can show You how to make a wreath. This is the old time way to do it, now days lots of people uses glue guns and perhaps no leafs at all. I´ve seen a really cool one made of only chestnuts.

It will stay cool all day today so I better go out to the wood shed to bring in some more firelogs to the stove. It´s no use starting a fire now, but it will be nice to have one when the night comes.
Have a great day now!

That last picture of the dogs without old Erna, do they miss her you think? And what about that lonely little froggy in the first picture? You bringing him in for the winter. He looks like he's shopping for a winter home. Your overcast cloud ceiling makes for a real winter like look even though I'm sitting here in 92 degree weather. It brings a chill to my bones. Thanks!

Hi Z&M!
They don´t show much of missing her, but they tend to sleep a lot on her favourite blanket. But I think we all knew that it was almost over that morning so perhaps they understand what has happened in a way.

It´s a little toad and no it will stay in the free. THey would actually die if I brought it in for winter. They would be stressed to death if they didn´t get their winter hibernation.

Have a great day now!

Hi Joyce!
Yes we do! It has calmed down a bit lately though. I´ve heard about that house. I think the price is nasty high even if it is a great place to live at.

Have a great day now!

Hi!
I always like when you have photo of mushrooms. Mushrooms, moss, lichen and their relatives ... these tiny little plants that grow in the old trunks of trees. Ah that will embroider it:)
Yes we here in Brazil we know about mosquitoes and dreadful diseases. Malaria here where I live don't have but we have in amazonia still happens. We have here the terrible "dengue". It is transmitted through mosquito bites a person and another to bite transmits the disease. This type of mosquito live in clean water and stop. We should not have water in potted plant, or old tires that are in the rain, that's enough for them to reproduce.
Then I look at some photos that have closely these tiny plants that I like both, maybe leave the embroidery?

Didi

Hi Didi!
Just like you I like mushrooms, lichens and mosses, but I think it might be to much to embroid :-)

Yes, mosquitoes can give terrible diseases in warm climates. Thankfully it´s still to cold up here for those bacterias to survive. Byt we had malaria here around 100 years ago.

I always tries to pour out all water in pots and other things that can collect water. Our mosquitoes doesn´t need much either to become more :-)

Have a great day now!

Christer,
It's getting on time for a fire here too. The sun has disappeared, and the day is already colder than it was.

You inspire me to take pictures.

Hi Kat!
It´s already drizzling here but it´s still to warm inside for a fire in the stove I´m afraid.

Thank You :-)

Have a great day now!

Hey, Christer, I have an idea... why not make friends with the toad and carry him/her on your shoulder and he/she could zap the mosquitos!... isn't that brilliant?!?... if you could get the toad's attention, that is... love the photos today and hope you were kept warm with the fire... looking forward to the wreath instructions... have a great day...

Hm.... To bad our systems not are the same- I mean ´bout the Malaria thing.... hm....
The weather wasn´t that nice here either today. But walking round the garden with another freak made me feeling good in that kind of weather to!;-) Strange how the mode can made one feel differnet ´bout the weather!;-)
Love your wreath further down! Now you inspired me to make one to!!;-)

Hi Sharlene!
I would only get problems if I became friends with a toad. With my luck Hector would eat it and then I would have a dog drooling like nothing You can imagine :-) :-)

Toads are toxic and last time he ate a toad I had to go to the vet :-) :-) :-)

I made a new wreath today, so instructions comes tomorrow.

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Nina!
But they think we might have some use of that information after all. Perhaps we can make some blood cells like that so it fits our blood?

It´s always a fun thing walking around with other garden freaks :-) A new wreath will be shown tomorrow.

Have a great day now!

Christer..it's a land that Fairies would love to live in. Are you certain they don't?? :)
Such beautiful countryside.

I am wondering how you got interested in the book Wind In The Willows and why you are looking for a copy?
Interesting. I'm looking for a copy.

Dogs have an understanding beyond what we can know. I think they grieve and just like us, in their own way. I've seen animals do interesting things in my lifetime, that lets us know. One dog alone might grieve differently than one that has a companion to be with. Your dogs have each other, the cats and you. It's a good thing.
:) (As Martha would say..)
Have a wonderful Sunday, Christer. Isn't it already tomorrow in Sweden? What an interesting world we live in.

Today is sad, but we moved forward.
Today in our newspaper, was a man in New York who had lost his son in 9/11. Both were firemen..and he decried the hate that he hears and see's going on. Hate only causes more hatred. He is right.
Take care.
It was about 90 degree's here today. :(

This is my first time visiting (I came from HermitJims) and I know that I will be back! I love the photos - especially the little toad!
I'm sorry that you're dealing with the mosquitos, just like we are here in Australia.
With all the rain we've gotten this winter, they say we'll have a bumper crop of mosquitos this spring - which means an epidemic of dengue fever and ross river virus. :(

Hi Mona!
Well, I live by a bog so You never konows what´s living around here :-)

I grew up with that story. Back in the days they made a series of childrens programs on tv where they just showed drawings from the book while reading the story. They show these old programs now and again and I don´t think I ever missed a single program.

I do think Orvar and Herctor do grieve in their own way. But I remember when my first dog had to go and how Viran and old Erna reacted. Then it was much clearer that they grieved her.

It was a terrible day and most of us will always remember what we were doing when we heard the news. He is totally right! Hate will only give more hate and more problems.
Take care now!
Christer.

Hi Tatersmama and welcome to my blog!
I´m glad that You like what I do here :-)

I live just by a very big bog and that is a paradise for mosquitos, but even more so for horesflies and other flies like that. They tend to drive me crazy if the spring has been cold and rainy. But I love living here so I just have to cope with it :-) :-)

But we have none of those terrible diseases they can spread thankfully! I´ve been reading about the rains down at Yours. I understand there were floodings just some days ago. I hope not to many people gets those diseases!

Have a great day now and welcome back!
Christer.
