There´s a clear blue sky without a single cloud in sight. Another thing that isn´t in sight is aeroplanes because all airline traffic over northern Europe has shut down and will most probably be so today and perhaps several days more. The air is filled with ashes from a vulcano up in Iceland and the winds blows the ashes over northern Europe. I can´t see any ash clouds but it´s out there. The problem with vulcano ashes is that it´s so sharp that it destroys jet engines and grinds the aeroplane windows so hard that the pilots can´t see anything after a while.

This is just a small eruption at the moment, but they are afraid that the much bigger vulcano, Kattla, will erupt soon. Then there will be a massive ash cloud up there in the sky. There is one much bigger problem with vulcanic ash in the air than aeroplanes not being able to fly, the climate can change for a shorter or longer period of time. The particles will stop the heat from the sun reaching the earth, even if the layer of ashes is so thin that we can´t see it and the temperatyres will drop, sometimes very much. But if I undertand thing correct it needs a much bigger eruption than what Kattla most probably will have.

The morning walk was so nice today. We walked down to the creek through the forest, so the rather cold winds from Iceland didn´t reach us that much. I could here that the Black grouses roosters still are out on the bog tryilng to impress the hen. The woodpecker flew from tree to tree and the nesting couples of cranes we have here announced that they had established their territories once again. For the first time this year I could also hear cattle out on the fields. Yesterday I saw a calf not one hour old :-)

Well it´s time for a cup of tea and then I´ll try to find a place outside away from the wind so I can enjoy the sun for a while.

Have a great day now!

I love these pictures today Christer. WOW. And happy you don't have that ash in the sky by your place. It must be horrible to see if you live in areas affected by it. I'm sure the wildlife would respond too. Where is a picture of the hour old calf? I would love to see what it looks like. Enjoy your sunshine.

Hi Z&M!
We have that ash here, we just can´t see it. But I´m happy that I don´t live down wind on Iceland. There it must be terrible right now!

I´m sorry but I have no photo of that calf. I drove by the cow on my way to the store. When I drove back home she had gotten the little calf :-) It´s amazing how cute they are!
Have a great day now!

Looks like a beautiful day...you are very fortunate to live somewhere so lovely. I was going to ask if you were impacted by the volcanic activity. Enjoy your day--I will think of you as I go off to work in this metropolitan wasteland!

Have a great day Yourself!

Hi Marjorie and welcome!
If it hadn´t been for the strong wind it would have been a fantastic day. But it blows so hard that it´s quite unpleasant to stay outdoors.
Yes, I am fortunate to live out here :-)

Yes we are impacted, but it´s impossible to see any ashes in the air. The airports will be closed until tomorrow at least. But if the wind still is north western it might be even longer they say.

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Joyce!
I do like the photographs today, it was a wonderful light this morning.

Geologists says that there isn´t more seismic action now than before over here, but I have to agree with You. I can´t remember that I´ve heard about this much activity before. I can´t remember so many big activities either! Let´s hope it will calm down soon!
Have a great day now!

So glad you don't have the ash to deal with and hope it doesn't get worse. Looks like you had a beautiful day!

Hi Barb!
Yes, thankfully most of the ash is way up in the air and not down here on the ground. The winds had started to change directions yesterday and people got their hopes up, hoping they might get away on vacations and all other things they sere supposed to do. But it changed again and now they don´t know when the airports can open again.

The day was beautiful, but rather cold due to the winds. But we have spring and I´m happy :-)
Have a great day now!

Hi Christer...those pictures are absolutely wonderful!! I loved every one of them. The ones with the dogs in it is just beautiful. My favorite one is the 8th one that appears in a soft light. You can just see one of the dog through the woods. Lovely!

Hi MOna!
They came out fine that morning :-) The cold air and the sun shining made the morning almost magical :-)

That photo is my favourite too :-) It´s old Erna wandering around in her own little world :-) She loves walking around by the creek, I think it´s because it´s a bit cooler there normally.
Take care!
Christer.
