Frost!

I looked at the thermoteter when I got up this morning and got a bit surprised. Only 2C (36F). But I have to say that it felt much colder when I opened the door so my dogs could walk out. Wha I forgot was that the heat censor hang towards the wall that still was a bit warm since yesterday. I realised that when I saw the windows on my car. They were covered with thick solid ice!

So I bade farewell to my tomato plants when I came home today after work and picked those tomatoes I think has a chance to becoe red and ripe. Then I looked at my potatoes and I think I´ll have to say farewell to them too. If they go under I´ll check if they had managed to make new potatoes, but I´ll give them some days more before i do that. It is at least one week to early for frost here. I do hop this isn´t a sign of a cold and awful winter!

I tasted that little apple I showed You yesterday and I have to say it tasted delicious!! But all of those apples are more or less destroyed by worms I´m afraid. To bad they are so small, not even an inch wide :-) :-) but if one has twenty or more of them they will be as much as a ordinary apple I think :-)

Tese three photos shows Toadstools.

No fire in the stove today, the sun has shined all day so it is actually a bit warm inside. But I will ofcourse make atleast one pot of tea and then I´ll wander out into cyberspace to visit You all!
Have a great day now!

I thought it was time for You all to learn some more swedish now. It´s very simple like these two videos sows :-) If I understand it correctly there are more episodes if You like to see them :-)

Ahahahahahahaha!!!

Wish they had taught me French that way.

Sorry about the ice. You can have our weather, it's 91F and will be for the rest of the week when the rain will cool it off.

Hi Caryn!

I´m not sure I want it that hot even in summer to be honest :-) :-) But ice on the windows isn´åt that fun either :-) :-)

Have a great day now!

Those are hysterical, Christer. Semester! I love it. We have to study and you guys get to go on vacation. How will I ever forget that lesson! hahahaha. Thank you, I enjoyed it and sent the link to my friends.

So no apple pie this year? Darn. I'm glad you at least got a taste of the apple. It would be for naught if you hadn't even had a bite. The dark photos look rather eerie again but remind me of the enchanted forrest.

Hi Christer,
The star of today are the lessons of Swedish. Very funny!
But I suffer first to understand English, I am very hard of hearing. But I think your language is so bautiful to be so filled with small balls on the letters, I like it.
I learned just two words in Swedish with my friend, one to say hi = hej, and the other is an ugly word :)

ok...this is the funniest post ever!!!! i love languages and this is a great example of what i have always believed. no matter how hard you study a language, you can not learn the nuances of it unless you live it each day. i love the way the first guy says that he doesn't even know why certain words are like they are. in amerian english it is so similar. you can say ass and mean a donkey. but most times an ass is your spouse or neighbor. and even worse, they are usually assholes! if i was the king of sweden i would tell people to go fuck themselves all the time. it is good to be the king!! so with that i will just say...slut! actually i will tell you a short funny story. one of the last lines in american arguments is: fuck you and anyone that looks like you. my second marriage, i was married to identical twins. one night i got into a fight with my husband as i sat between the two of them in the front seat of our car. after screaming at each other for quite some time i yelled at him: fuck you and anyone that looks like you. his brother got really pissed off at me!!!

Great and funny post. Sorry you are experiencing frost already. We are heading back to the high 90's for the next few days...that is too hot for me.
Videos are funny and yet educational eh?
I love looking at your photos, they remind me where I use to live.
Sending you some of my hot weather your way.

Hi Z&M!
I thought they were funny and hoped You all would think that too :-) One never knows with humor.
There are many examples of the same word meaning different things between swedish- norwegian and swedish-danish too :-)

I have anothet apple tree too that will give loads of apples this year, but they won´t ripe yetfor a month. So there will be apple pie with custard :-) :-)

Have a great day now!

Så där nere vid havet också! Trodde nog inte ni skulle få det än på en månad eller två.

Jag känner mig lite lurad på våren i år faktiskt. Det var ju så kallt och regnigt hela tiden.
Ha det gott!
Christer.

Hej Didi!
I did hope that You would know english good enough to get these videos :-)

I can´t see or hear if our language is beautiful. But I´ve heard that it sounds a bit like singing when we speak it.

It´s funny how easy we learn the uggly words in other languages :-) :-) :-)

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Joyce!
It is sort of a double insult saying that to identical twins :-) :-) :-)

I have to admit that I don´t understand why we say some things either :-) They never really explained that in school. I have a workfriend from Iraq a couple of years ago and speaks swedish rather well. But he told me he got confused by these things.

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Diane!
The frost came one week early, but I hope this means we will get a long, warm and dry autumn. But I wouldn´t want that heat You have, it is hotter than we have hot summers :-) :-)

I´ll send some of our cool air Your way if You send some of Your warm to us :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Christer.

You have frost, Christer, and we have hurricane watch warnings from Earl - also temps in the 90s like many others who posted. Too bad about the worms in the apples; Grenville has not picked the 4 on his apple tree - not enough for a pie :-( But we have plenty of butternut squash and will make another pie using them - tastes like pumpkin.

Thanks for the info on the red toadstools. We may get more mushrooms after some rains the next couple of days...will check for that one.

I appreciated the lessons in swedish this morning! They were indeed funny...
Nothing like a good laugh first thing in the morning!

The cottage by the Cranelake said...

Hi Beatrice!
They have told us about Earl on the news here. I do hope it will calm down before it hits!

We had very few rowan berries here this year, so that´s why the apples are attacked. Well there will be more next year :-) I have never tasted pumpkin pie, so I have no idea how that tastes :-)

Have a great day now!
Christer.

I thought it would amuse You those swedish lessons :-) If they make any more I´ll post them here :-)

Have a grate day now!

Christer,
That was just so funny. Who knew Swedish was so easy!

It is far too soon for you to have frost-your summer didn't even start that long ago. I wish warm weather your way!

The cottage by the Cranelake said...

Hi Kat!
I´ve always wondered why swedish isn´t the dominating language on this planet since it is so easy :-) :-)

I´ve always thought that the world must tilt over some so we can get a longer summer up here :-) :-)

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Sharlene!
:-) :-) But we only have that long summer if it is a real good one :-) :-) :-)

I´m glad You liked them :-) I thought I had seen two more lessons but now I just can´t find any. But if I do I will post them!

I´ll visit when You write :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Mona!
Is things so bad? I can understand it though if blogger doesn´t work as it should and with those nasty high temperatures You have!!

But why don´t You take a small vacation from writing Your blog, because Bloggers problems usually stays for a week or so, then they mostly get back to normal again.

I did expect frost but not for yet another week :-) I saved atleast around 20 tomatoes :-)

I think You´ll have to write Goodye. Slut! Otherwise it actually looks like You are calling me a slut :-) :-) :-)

Take care of You both in that awful heat now!
Christer.
