Autumn.

Perhaps I should make myself an autumn wreath this year. I have plenty of these big rosehips and I can pick some acorns in the forest. I haven´t done any since I closed my gardencentre/nursery so perhaps it´s about time now.

The sun is shining and it is 14C (57F) outside. Autumn is here for sure now. They say it will become warmer again and that the rain will keep away this week. I love cool mornings but I´m not that fond of cold mornings and that is waht we have now. It was 5C (41F) this morning and I guess that the first night with frost comes next week or so. If it doesn´t the autumn usually gets long and warm. I do hope for that!

I sowed a seed from a Paradise apple nine years ago and this year the first fruits showed. If I remember correctly the apple I took the seds from were bright red, this looks more like a normal apple, but very tiny. I think I´ll try to eat one of them :-)

When I go to the store I almost always pay with my bank card, if I have money on me I always spend them to fast :-) So naturally I didn´t have any money on me when I went to the grocery store in Gudhem when I went there yesterday. I´m really glad that they know me there because they card system didn´t work. The lightning had struck several times when we got that storms on Saturday and their internet connection had died totally. It didn´t work again until it was time to close for the day. We do live in a very wounerable world these days. If internet goes nothing works :-) :-)

One of the species of Katydids we have here. This one looks much like a gigant grasshopper, but we have those looking a bit like aliens too :-) :-)

The common red toadstool. We call them Fly musrooms, I think we do that because they made a fly poisson from it bac in the days. This i also the mushroom the vikings mixed in their mead. After that they wn berserk. Well they didn´t have tv so what should they do on a saturday evenig :-) :-) :-)

Bertil ha decided that he wanted to go out to an island in the bog on this little bridge that Yu hardly can see because of the high water level. I told him it was a bad idea for such a tiny cat.

He stood there for quite some time until he decided I probably was right. He weighs only four pounds after all :-)

For once I have lots of time today. I went from work two hours earlier than usual (so I could go to the store and pay my bill) and it feels like I have had the whole day off :-) :-) My dogs and I was trying a part of the forest we´ve never been in before, but all rain we´ve had lately made it feel like we were going in a swamp. So we went back to our usual areas but it wasn´t much better there to be honest. But who am I to complain really. Thousands of people are drowning all around the world just because thet have got so much more rain than we have.

Now there´s a fire in the stove and a pot of tea by my side. Well it´s to much to say that there´s a fire in the stove. For some reason the fire log won´t burn especially good. It sort of only glows. I think that the firelog is to dense so the fire just stays on the surface. The quality can vary quite much between different brands.
Have a great day now!

No I haven´t forgotten :-) You have to click on this photo to make it bigger to see her, our little doe tha always stands on the same place every morning when we take our walk. I´ve never seen her here before so perhaps that was why I didn´t see her until ater I took this photo.

Hello Christer
Worse, it seems to have a fog in front, but seems to have a deer there.
I increased the zoom, but very distorted the picture, I think he confused it with plants, because here I only see the plates on the roads heheheh never seen a live free in nature

Hi Christer,
I guessed correctly on the deer although after I had enlarged it so much she looked a bit like a he with antlers. Oh well.
Great photos today. The dead tree stump is my favorite but the mossy ones are lovely too.
I saw on a Nova show once that apples don't reproduce true from seeds so who knows what you've got there.
Have a great day.

Hi Andrea!

:-) :-)
Well there is a deer almost in the middle of that cirkle I´ve made. I think it stands with its behind towards me (or could it be the head :-) :-) ). If I had waited a couple of seconds to take that photo the doe would have had its side towards us and it would have been much easier to see it.

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Caryn!
I can´t say if it is the behind we see or the head :-) :-) But it is the little doe so no antkers. I do like that photo too, but my favourite is the rose buds. I love the color red :-)

Yes that is correct. If You sow and apple seed the comming apples looks different. Over here they always say that those apples are to sour to eat, but that isn´t true.

The apples are usually quite good, but they usually becomes very small. We have some apple trees here that comes from bought apples and they are quite tasty but You have to eat four or five of them to feel that You´ve eaten anything :-) :-)

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Good idea to isolate the doe. Now I can see her when I enlarge the photo. Very nice! I bet that apple tastes sour. You'll have to remember to let us know as I did that once and got so excited I brought several in for the kids and our mouths all puckered up. My son spit his out. I will never forget. Bertil is so curious. It will bring trouble. I say keep that cat indoors. Love the photos as always Christer, the red in the mushroom photo is magnificent. I wonder if that is the camera or really that sharp a red for a shroom. Good posting today, thanks!

Hi Joyce!
You are very welcome, but since You have troubles with mosquito bites may I suggest a place very far from a bog :-) :-) The islands outside of Gothenburg would be a great place for You I think :-) 93!! That is more than we usually gest during a warm summer! I do hope it will change soon over at Yours!

I wonder if we have Vermont cheddar over here. I really like that color on a cheese :-) I´ll try this later in autumn I guess, when it´s funny to make different foods again :-)
Have a great day despite the heat!
Christer.

Hi Z&M!
That doe is almost impossible too see if You don´t know where she is :-)I´ll tell You all how that little apple tastes :-) It can be bitter too, paradise apples usually are if I remember correctly.

I think Bertil would become insane if I stopped him from getting out. He´s a little tiger :-) As long as he keeps away from the fox he will be alright.

The mushrooms were actuallu a bit more red. But I choosed a darker photo because they were a bit blurry on the lighter ones. You have these toadstools in Northern USA too.
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Christer, If you do make some Autumn wreathes, I hope you'll take some photos and show them to all of us who read your blog everyday. You gave me an idea, I think I will make one too. There are all kinds of natural things I can use to make wreathes around here.

Hello Christer,
We have beautiful scenes today ... at the beginning of this red fruit (fruit or flower?), Red mushrooms like fairy tales, red apple too, and a cat very brave (or foolish)
Ahhh ha! Then I saw the deer! Exactly in the middle of the photo using Geographical ... ... if you draw lines starting from the corners.
Kisses and thank you for more one ride in their fields :)
Didi

Ah yes! Now I see her. I looked and looked in that last photo...thanks for circling her. Great idea.
Bertil..is really small. He doesn't look that small in pictures. My cat was about 11 pounds..or more, and a female.

I just remembered how our cat, Ming, used to follow my husband to the football field at the highschool, and run the track with him. Cats are such interesting creatures. She would jump up on the end tables and move things gently with her paw, just enough to make her way through. I once caught her clear up on the drapery rod in the dining room, gingerly walking along. Amazing...cats!

Yes..last Christmas at a big department store, the computers went down and we could not pay for things..I tired of waiting in line and left. A wee upset...not much but I lost a lot of time and effort.
It is about 72 degree's here...and gorgeous. We need rain..but that won't come for awhile. I think they did get some in the desert and it made a mess of things. California is NOT equipt for rain!
Take care, Christer! :)
Mona
OH..wait...those rose hips..I 've never seen such gorgeous ones before. Do make a wreath!!! I would love to see one. And those adorable little apples! Great to pile into a pretty bowl on the table! Enjoy!!
How did they taste??

I'm a day behind in blog reading - easy to do, Christer (as you know too). we also planted a couple of apple trees and this year, Grenville has his first delicious apples growing - 4 small ones. He planted a tree vs. from seeds. The red mushroom is not one I have seen in our yard, but I'm sure they are here in Virginia also. I liked the katydid, but had to look twice to see it blended among the leaves. I was wrong on the doe's location as i thought she was more in the large clump of trees.

Continued hot weather here = 90+ degrees with the threat of hurricane Earl approaching by mid-week of later.

Technology is wonderful - when it works. How nice that your local grocery store would let you come back to pay the next day. Not something you would find most places, even in our small town because there are no longer any small local stores, only a couple of large grocery store chains.

Christer.

Hi Terria!
I think I´ll male one wreath now trhise weekend. Just a simple one, but I need to have gloves since this rose has some nasty thorns :-) :-) The only problem with wreaths made with rosehips and other edible things is that birds will start eating on them :-) :-) I promise to take a photo.

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Didi!
It is a fruit from a rose and they are really beutiful and an important source of food for small birds. I have lots of them in my garden.

Great that You found the deer :-) It was really difficult :-)

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Mona!
It was really difficult to see her there in the mist :-)

Cats are really funny animals :-) Sometimes they just don´t understand that they are cats :-) :-)

It´s so annoying when the pay system doesn´t work as it should!! Our banks are more or less forcing us to pay by card nowdays, so then they should make everything work even if a lightning hits!!

It´s the rose hip from a Japanese rose. A really thorny one that spreads like crazy if one isn´t prepared.

I didn´t get so many small apples so I can pile them I´m afraid :-) :-) :-) I promise to take a photo if I make a wreath. I think I´ll make one on Saturday if I can find some gloves :-)

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Sharlene!
Those red toadstools are quite common on old paintings that shows old fairytales over here. I know they grow in the US too, I´ve seen them in a blog.

I´ll visit if You write :-)

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Woody!
I did think she was walking away from us, but it was hard to see on that photo. But it looks like we can see her white behind.

Always nice when You come here!
Have a great day now!

Hi Beatrice!
Yes it´s very easy to fall behind in the blog reading! Especially now since I´ve started to read so many blogs.

I love sowing apple seeds and does it everywher I go :-) There can never be to many apple trees in the world :-)

It is a red toadstool and I know they grow in the US too, but perhaps more north than You live. I think they are so beautiful!

I have several katydids in the trees in my garden now, but they are so difficult to see since they are so green :-)

We still have some smaller grocerystores here and there in our county and this one actually goes better and better every year. People have realised that petrol costs rather much so they buy more and more things in this store :-)

Have a great day now!
Christer.
