Well it´s not the ocean :-) But it is as close as I can get. I have to finish this area next year when I´m allowed to start digging again.

I´m sitting in my kitchen waiting for my pot of tea to be clear. We walked our morning walk quite early and there were no wind and no rain. Mosquitoes had a party on me but after being bitten several times we get immune towards them so the bites doesn´t itch any more. Now it´s the sound of them flying that gives the most irritation :-) :-)

Bertil followed us in to the part of forest he was afraid of before, but he must have realised that no fox will come close to us as long as my dogs are with us. But we did surprise one on our way home. Hector loves foxes, he played with one all summer a couple of years ago. The young fox hadn´t learned that dogs can be dangerous yet and now Hector belives that all foxes loves him :-) That fox is long gone I´m afraid, but Hector still hopes that they will play with him :-) :-)

The World Cup in soccer is going on now down in South Africa and I have to congratulate You from the US! Your team played real well yesterday evening and got 1-1 towards England. England is always one of the favourites and to be honest has one of the best teams in the world! I do hope the world have under estimated the US team :-) I hope they go all the way to the finals :-) I also hope Denmark will that, so now You know my favourite teams :-)

Now it´s time for a cup of tea and then I think I´ll take a small nap.
Have a great day now, I will!

A potentilla of some kind.

Hej!

Christer.

These country photos get better and better. YOUR POND! I missed it this year. Looks really great. Thanks for including it today. How much work will it take to get it where you want it? I think the lawn surrounding it makes it look so peaceful a setting. I bet you will enjoy it this summer. Be careful with the Fox. Hector might come home with a bloody nose.

Don't see how you can adapt to mosquitos. Maybe if you collect enough, you can make a soup! LOL...lovely garden walk, today. I listened to ABBA last night on my drive home. Were they from your neck of the woods, or am I totally off? Have a nice cuppa tea.

Hi Z&M!
I thought You might like a photo of the pond :-) I´m not sure how much work really. But I will dig away the lawn around it, put a ground cover the soil and then fill up the area with bought soil. I want to avoid as much of the weeds and grasses as possible in the beginning.

As long as we get some sun I will enjoy summer and the pond :-) I don´t think a bloody nose is to expect, but there´s always the risk of my dogs getting Fox scabies.
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Sharlene!
The body gets used to the chemicals that makes the itching so after a while it doesn´t feel that bad. But You have to get bitten a lot in the beginning :-) :-)

Abba were swedish :-)Back then they were popular all over the world, but not here. They were looked upon as to glamourus. Back then the sweeds were very much to the left when it came to politics. I however never understood that it was a bad thing liking them :-) :-) They was and still is my favourite group of them all!
Have a great day now!

hi christer...the pond looks wonderful! i wonder if the dogs will try to swim in it? the brits must be pissed about letting in such a soft goal to the USA but good for us! we had a good second half! i add the cornstarch because it works as a thickener. i don't like my pies too thick or too runny...they must be just right! joyce

Hoppas teet blev gott?;-)
VA???? Jojo.... Tiderna förändras!;-) Congratulations USA!

The cottage by the Cranelake said...

Hi Joyce!
Even though my dogs are at least a third New Foundland they hate to swim or even come close to water :-) :-) They only like it if it´s really muddy it seemes :-) :-)

It´s not easy to be the english goal keeper right now. The english people wants his head on a plate :-) :-) :-)

I thought it might be whay You added starch to the pies, but I wasn´sure at all. Runny pies is anything but nice, so I think I´ll do that too.
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Kram LjusneLotta & Co

My dad made a pond in our huge backyard when I was a kid. He added bass and we would go out and throw them bread. It had a rock garden and little waterfall that was fed by a spring farther up. Your pictures have reminded me of it. Lovely place...I enjoyed reading!

Beatrice P. Boyd said...

We had though about putting in a pond here and maybe adding some fish, but decided it would be extra work. So instead we're planting another wildflower garden. Actually just clearing an area and scattering seeds and "see" what happens. Did this last year with great results and not too much effort.

Like you I dislike the buzzing of mosquitoes and worse yet their bite cause they seem to always "get" me. I never seem to get used to them.

Kram, Christer.

Hi Pam!
Must have been a rather big pond then, if You could have bass in it. Did he sit there and fish them on summer night too? That would be fantastic.

I wish I could lead water from a creek or spring to my pond, but it´s rather far to any of that here.
I´m glad You like it here!
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Beatrice!
It´s actually not that much extra work to have a small pond like mine. Especially if one doesn´t have any fish in it. But without fish it will surly become a mosquitoe nursery :-) :-) A wildflower garden is so beautiful so I can understand why You shoosed that!

Yes the buzzing from mosquitoes are nasty. I can hear them but nor see them and that drives me crazy :-) :-) The itching is not that bad now, but I have been bitten a lot until it got reduced. Now I don´t think about it that much at all.
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Your pond is beautiful, Christer. And why are you not allowed to dig. I don't understand?

Also...that gate. For some reason I love gates..and am in the process of looking for one at garage sales. I did find an old iron one at an estate sale and it is now on my patio with vines beginning to cover it... :)

Perovskia said...

I love the pond. Any fish?

The cottage by the Cranelake said...

Hi Mona!
It´s the hip surgery that stops me from digging this year. The metal and bone must heal together. But I´ll dig next summer instead :-)

Old gates are beautiful! They nake them like that nowdays and I often paint them at work :-) They are even more beautiful when it grows vines on them! Mine is made from tree and is in a bad shape to be honest, but I like it that way :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Perovskia!
Yes I have some fish in it during summer, I don´t want more mosquitoes here :-) :-) :-) But they go back to the aquarium during winter.
Take care now!
Christer.
