The rising of the Midsummer pole in Gudhem (Gods home). If You use Your dirty imagination You´ll see what that really is :-) :-) But to be honest, most people doesn´t know that.

The sun is shining but there are some clouds lurking around in the neighbourhood. But I think it might be fog slowly rising from the ground and that athey will dissapere before blowing with the wind to an unfortunate position blocking the sun for us here in the village.

Now all flowers on the Guelder-rose has opened up. It almost looks like some hydragenas and since most hydragenas can´t survive here I really would like to have a couple of guelder-roses in my garden. I have two cuttings in pots now and is hoping for the best.

Bertil followed us as usual. My neighbours always laugh when they see us comming :-) :-) That cat really has some identity problems :-)

We went out on our morning walk already at 5:30 and the temperature had only reached 12 (54F). Since the flies were so active in the forest yesterday morning, we walked by the fields instead. Birds were already singing and flocks of starlings went like waves over the fields catching insects or worms. Usually we have a starling nesting somewhere on my neighbours house, that sounds like a Cuckoo clock :-) :-) But he hasn´t arrived this year. I´ve heard him for the last ten years, so now I miss him very much.

These cattles are semi wild so that bull is nothing to play with :-) But it´s the cows that is really dangerous. If they see me and my dogs and feel we are dangerous towards their calfs they will defend themselves. Thankfully the fields they walk on is hughe so they know that they can walk away if they feel the need. It has happened that people walking their dogs through fields like this has been attacked. Even if it is allowed to walk through fields with cows it´s just plain stupid to do so, especially if they have a dog with them.

It was a bit colder by the fields so there were almost no flies flying around at all and not a mosquitoe in sight either. Since it´s a day after a holiday no cars could be heard at that time either. The feeling of being the only one left in the world followed me all the way. Now however I know that at least my neighbours further down the road is alive. They are taking care of their doughters two small dogs and they bark as soon as they get out in the morning :-) :-)

Teodor greated us when we came home. He almost never follows us on our walks any longer.

He preferes to stay indoors and sleep behind my lap top :-)

I´ve made the banana pie and I tasted the vanilla pudding mixture. I ever, never say "OH MY GOD!" But I will do that now. It´s deliucious!!! It is worth dying for I think :-) :-) :-) This will spread, I´m certain of that. I now know where to find condensed milk, so now we´ll have to figure out a replacement cookie for the Nilla wafers. It´s going to be fun to see my friends faces when they taste this :-)

I´ve learned one thing this morning. If I play with cutting photo´s and happens to save the changes, the original photo is deleted??!!  :-) :-) Well, You can see my bananapie and how I followed the instructions on Joyce´s blog Octoberfarm.

The Beauty bush, Kolkwitzia amabilis, has started to flower. We call it Paradise bush.

The tea pot is ready and it´s time for some breakfast. My potatoes will soon be ready to be put in to the ground and then I´ll tell You a couple of ways to grow potatoes.
Have a great day now!

Kul att du tittade in här idag!
Ha en trevlig midsommardag!
Christer.

well, way to go christer. it looks just like mine! do you get pepperage farm cookies in sweden? because you can substitute their chessmen cookies for the nilla wafers. do you still have enough ingredients for another recipe? if you need more cookies or pudding let me know and i can always ship more to you. can't wait to hear how your friends like it! enjoy and have lots of fun. joyce

Hi Joyce!
I followed Your description how to do it in the smallest detail :-) :-) :-)

Í´ve never heard of those cookies, but I´m going to cookie experts today so we will find a substitute :-)

Yes, there´s still ingredients for one more pudding :-)

I have to say that I´ve never understood how wonderful condensed milk tastes :-) :-)

Thanks once again!
have a great midummers day now!
Christer.

Hi Christer,
Excellent looking banana pie you have got there. If it tastes as good as it looks, it will be heaven.

When I'm going to mess around with a photo but still want the original, I make a duplicate. I can do what I want to the duplicate without losing the original photo.

Have a lovely midsummer day.

Joyce must have posted that recipe while I was on tour. I'll have to check out her archives for it. It looks delicious. I love banana pie. And love these photos today too. You'll have to leave the dogs home and walk the cow pasture with your cats, Christer. Cats will spook the bull. Enjoy your tea.

Christer, Your photos from your walks always make me feel like I'm there too. I loved seeing the midsummer photo too. I wonder how long people have been celebrating in this way. Many, many centuries anyway.
Have a wonderful day!

hi...i saw your comment on christers blog. he is too cute that he make the banana pudding exactly like mine. he even used the same shaped glass bowl! he cracks me up. i sent him the ingredients since they don't have nilla wafers in sweden. he's calling it pie but it is 'southern banana pudding"!!!! those swedes will think they have died and gone to southern heaven...hehe!!!

Sharlene T. said...

Got the hint, Christer...Great celebration...and your Banana Pudding looks fantastic...I'm sure you're a total convert by now... I'm always change my pix but rename them as soon as I've made the change, so the original stays in the folder along with the change... if you rename with the same file name and just add an 01, or 02, or whatever, they'll be side-by-side in your folder... you can make as many duplicates with changes as you want, this way, and keep a record... come visit

P.S. Jaz is so nice to be sending you the ingredients... gotta love her...

Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving your comment! It helps to know that other people understand.
It's not like I don't realize that big dogs aren't here as long as little ones but...I didn't need that woman reminding me!
I love your blog! It is always so peaceful and such beautiful photos!
And your little cat Bertil gets to my heart EVERYTIME there's a photo of him following you. He is a boy? right? Such a sweetie! Sigh...

The cottage by the Cranelake said...

Hi Caryn!
It was delicious! This pudding is going to be made again :-)

Normally when I have made changes the old photo remains in the folder. But here as soon as I´ve saved the changes the old one dissaperes??? It´s impossible to get it back again!!! I´ll try to find another photo editing program! I don´t like my editing program at all!
Have a great day now!
Christer.
Have a great day now!

Hi Z&M!
No she posted that some weeks ago, or is it a month? You´ll find it in the archives. You won´t regret making it :-)

We are just slightly passing that pasture, so I never worry. and Bertil is always with us :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Terria!
I´m glad You like my photo´s!

We´ve been celebvrating this since the bronse age at least, perhaps longer. That is around 3000-4000 years ago I think. Old habits die hard as we say here :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

The cottage by the Cranelake said...

Hi Joyce!
Yes, why do I call it pie? I know it´s pudding but I never remember to write the right word :-) :-)
have a great day now!
Christer.

The cottage by the Cranelake said...

Hi Sharlene!
I think I have to make a copy before I make the changes of my photo´s. Normally I only reduce the size, so It´s not that important to have the original.

When I did some changes, just to learn how to do it, now the original dissapered. Ther was no chance to save the old one??

Joyce is one of the most generous people I´ve gotten the pleasure to know.
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi oldblackcatboo!
It doesn´t matter if we know or not, they just don´t have to behave like that. It´s like they bget pleasure of hurting others and I hate that!

Yes Bertil is a boy. He follows us everywhere, but he doesn´t like anyone to hold him. Teodor never follows us anywere, but loves to be held all the time :-) :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

blogging...go figure! i saw that cat in the bag left the comment to you and i tried to tell her that you and your friends would be eating her kind of food as she is from the south and banana pudding is a very popular southern desert. how the heck it ended up on your blog and not hers is beyond me. but it is just another example of my computer skills. well, i am glad some of you liked the pudding. bananas can be tricky...people either love them or hate them it seems. i like my bananas almost green and some people like them when they are almost black. and some people won't even try them. so, are the only ingredients you can't get in sweden the pudding and the nilla wafers? btw...now that you have tried condensed milk there are all kinds of ways to use it. one of my favorite ways is to make korean coffee with it. you brew the strongest coffee you can make. you pour some condensed milk in a glass and add lots of ice then pour the strong coffee over it. it is awesome! joyce

The cottage by the Cranelake said...

Hi Joyce!
:-) But I think he has gotten the message :-) He is actually from the north I think.

We who loves bananas loves this pudding :-)

Never heard of Korean coffee before. Must try that. This was the first time I´ve tasted condensed milk and I loved it! So coffee mixed with it must be great!
have a great day now!
Christer.

Enjoyed the early morning walk ohotos (as usual) Christer and also all the exchanges about the bananna pudding. I made a variation also and you could use graham crackers as a subsitute for nilla waters.
Teodor has the right idea - sleeping in!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend

Christer, it sounds like you have to make a copy of the original before you do any editing. My program is like that too. When I crop a photo and click "Done" the original is replaced by the new cropped version. If I want to keep the original view, I have to make a copy first, save the original and then do all the editing on the copy.

The cottage by the Cranelake said...

Hi Beatrice!
I´ll have graham crackers in mind when I have to find a substitute. Thanks!

Teodor is the odd one in this family of me and my dogs :-) :-) We others rises with the sun and starts our walks early :-) :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Caryn!
I think I´ll have to do like You do! My old program (that I got when I developped the old films and changed them into digital photo´s on a cd) was a simple program, but much better than what I have now.

With the old program I also could pick many photo´s at the same time and reduce the size. With the new one I can only do one photo at a time. Unfortunally the new computor refuses to download the old program. Not compatible it says.

Have a great day now!
Christer.

caryn said...

Play around on your new program. It may let you do that. Mine will let me save the edits I have used on one photo and apply it to another one.
Happy feature hunting :-)

The cottage by the Cranelake said...

Hi Caryn!
I´ve tried and it just refuses even when I beg :-) :-) I think I´ll contact that firm and ask if they can sell that program to me.
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Where is this recipe at Jaz' blog, Christen? I can't find it! I'd love to try this, loooove bananas...

That Midsummer pole looks fantastic and very... obvious!

And I loved seeing your cat following you around, he must surely have a double personality...

Kisses from Nydia.

Yes, the pole is quite obvious if You know what it really is :-) :-)

Bertil must believe that he at least is part dog :-)
Have a great day now!
