Orvar isn´t any better at all today, so I called the vet early in the morning. We got an appoinment next Tuesday!! I know it´s vacation times, so there´s no use complaining. But with a bit of luck he´ll be better by his own by then :-) :-)

One by one the smaller, fertile flowers in the middle, opens up.

Old Erna is now a bit more than thirteen years old and has started to get her ideas :-) For instance, she refuses to eat her food if I don´t puts a treat in it :-) I´ll then save that same food until next time they are going to eat. If there isn´t a treat in it she still refuses to eat it. This can go on for a long time (with new food every day ofcourse) She knows I´ll be the first to give up :-) :-) :-) If she goes with me in the car her place is on the seat beside me in the front. Doesn´t matter if there are other things there, she will just sit on top of them. So I always have to think about that when packing the car for a longer trip :-) :-)
But I think it´s alright to do so when one is such an old dog :-)

Sibirian iris.

Iris setosa, Blue flag iris?

Her mother Viran was much worse, but she was like that from the start. She destroyed three refridgerators for me. Tore down my kitchen door when she wanted to see what I was doing on the other side. She picked up small chicks from nests that she found and tried to raise them. She also became the mother to a cat I had then. She also destroyed my friends garage door when she had to wait there for fifteen minutes :-) :-) :-) I should tell You more about here one day. You know Marley, the worst dog in the world? My old Vira was at least as bad as him, but I loved her more than anything else :-) :-)

Clematis tangutica.

Well it´s time to say farewell for this time. Now I´ll visit all You and then I think a pot of tea would be nice.
Have a great day now!

I know people who put their dogs down because they broke things and couldn't stay in one place alone. I think a neighbor once told me that a dog that can't be trained is not a happy dog. Dogs who are domesticated want to please their human companion and if they act out or break things they are sad. I also read somewhere that dogs who break things are often said to have been abused. That certainly doesn't sound like your family because you give your pets so much love and attention. I hope Orvar gets better by the weekend. Enjoy your tea.

Hi Z&M!
When a dog do break things when the owner isn´t at home, they feel insecure for some reason. Mostly it depends on that the pack leader, the owner isn´t with the pack. That would never happen in a pack of wild dogs. But very few of those dogs are abused.

I don´t think Viran was sad one minute of her life :-) and mostly she did behave very well even when I was away for a while. But now and again she did things like destroying my fridges :-) :-)

She loved food and she knew where to find it. She never meant to destroy them, she just wanted what was inside :-) :-) :-) I think she was the most intelligent dog I´ve ever met. I have to tell You more about her, she never stopped to amaze me :-) Hector, her grandson has some of what she had. He´s very intelligent but the worst he has done is biting a hole in the food sack :-) :-)

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Joyce!
You´re right, but I must see to that she doesn´t gain to much weight since her back is so bad. Most of the times I´ll put something in her food :-)

I´ll make the pudding for this Saturday. My friends son has his birthday and is comming home after having worked in Norway a couple of months.

Three days!! :-) :-) In a way I´m very happy that I have no space to put things away :-) :-) I have only one closet for instance :-) But You have the most amazing things put away so I think I would have fun helping You with that :-) :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Kram, Kram

Hi Nydia and welcome to my little blog!
I never mind if anyone follows my blog :-) :-)

It actually looks as if Orvar walks better this morning. But dogs are su skilled in the art of hiding their injuries :-)
Have a great day now and welcome back!

Christer.

Usually they have another Vet available when yours is out of town..on call. That's a long time to suffer even if it isn't a life or death emergency.
The flowers are lovely. You should see trying to keep things green here.. :) Not easy when they warn you about water usage!
Have a good day, Christer.

Hi Mona!
There´s a hughe shortage of vets over here, so I think they might have had troubles getting a substitute this summer. But I can tell You that he was much better when I came home from work today. That is until he went ahead and started playing with his brother again :-) :-) But it´s still better than yesterday.

I have a pain and inflammation medicine that I use for old Erna, I think I´ll try that one on him tomorrow. There´s no risk in doing it and if it helps thats great.

I would love to have some warmer weather and still have as much water as we have here. I never have to worry about not having water and to use it as I please :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Christer, how I do wish we could send just a bit of the warm weather your way since it is so hot here today and hotter yet on Thursday. We had a very brief rain shower overnight but it didn't do much to cool things down. The only good news is that we can definitely skip cutting teh grass this week because it's too dry and not growing.

The cottage by the Cranelake said...

Hi Beatrice!
Those are the best summers, when one doesn´t have to cut the grass :-) :-) :-)

It looks as if wre going to have more satbile weather these comming four days, perhaps not especially warm but sunny. We all hope for that since Midsummer is one of the biggest holidays here in this country.
Have a great day now!

Christer.
