Forgetmenot´s.

They say that we finally will get it a bit warmer here now. It´s about time I think. It´s been a long time since we had a May as cold as this one. But we´ve had a very long spring for once and it´s my favourite part of the year, so perhaps I would be happy about that instead of complaining :-)

But we´re going to get a rather terrible summer when it comes to mosquitoes and other blood sucking insects, because of all the rain we´ve had. The last five or six years the spring has been really dry and almost all insect larvae that lives in all the small ponds out on the bog has died. This year there´s not a chance that those small ponds will dry out fast enough to kill those terrible little animals. So if You think I complained much last year about them, this year will most certainly be worse :-) :-) :-)

Stawberry flowers.

We call these flowers for Squirrel berries. I wonder if they like them or if the berries kill the poor squirrels. It´s a relative to The lily of the vally and smell very nice. I´ll find the name for You till tomorrow.

It´s a terrible tick year too. Every morning I sit down on the floor and take some time with my dogs, talking, scratch them behind the ears and things like that. Now almost all time goes to get rid of all ticks I missed the night before. No tick has still bitten me though, but I have taken some while they were walking around on my arms. Nasty animals that!

Now it´s time for a cup of cocoa, I´ve forgotten to buy tea today. Then I´ll visit You on Your blogs!

Have a great day now!

Your weather and such sounds a lot like Oregon weather. Now that I am in northern California the summer tends to be dry and hot. It does help to live in the foothills on a ridge...the valley gets super hot. This year I am dealing with poison oak and I too have seen ticks on my dogs and on me etc., but never have I got bitten. Yep got mosquitoes too and they love me. *sigh* Have a good one eh?

So happy to see the photos back. We had a pool party today and I used Joyce's bar-b-que sauce recipe on chicken and it was wonderful. Left the extras with my son and past out the recipe to four friends who joined us. I hate bugs and we just got over the love bug season, yay for us. Go get that tea Christer!

Hi Christer... we had the long cold spring last year... this year we had a very early spring followed by extremely warm temperatures... today has been gorgeous. My wife and I planted flowers for 13 hours and my arthritis is complaining! Mosquitoes are such a problem... I have to admit that I spray... usually twice in the summer will get rid of them as we have had very dry July and Augusts lately. I find your blog very interesting! Larry

What's the white flower above the strawberry flower? I love it.

Those look like fantastic rain clouds.

Christer.

Hi Diane!
I can imagine what a big difference it must have been moving to California!

Thankfully we don´t have poison oak or any other things like that over here. Nettles is the worst thing we have.

In a way I can live with mosquitoes, but those blood sucking flies, like horse flies, that comes later is terrible. It reallu hurts when they bite. Unfortunally they do love me :-) :-) :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Z&M!
Sounds great to be at a pool party! I´ve never been to one in my whole life. But then again pools aren´t that common over here.

Joyce sure knows her food and knows how to get it to taste fantastic!

As long as bugs doesn´t want my blood or wants to take a walk inside my ears or nose they are quite ok :-) :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Larry!
Since it has been so dry here these last years mosquito´s hasn´t been any bigger problem, nor has horse flies. But every now and again spring is like it is this year and they become terrible. But I guess that this will be a good year for all birds raising their small ones.

13 hours planting floweres! My body would have given up long ago :-) :-) I have psoriasis artheritis so I´ve slowed down with planting flowers and trees and bushes and..... :-) :-) I just take it a bit slower though, could never stop doing it !

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Perovskia!
They are so beautiful those Bleeding hearts!

The little white flower is called "Forest star" here. When I moved here there were only a few of them, nowdays when many trees are gone they can be found all over the place. One of my favourites!
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Christer,
Tons of mosquitoes here too. Usually they don't make it to my up high deck, but this year they found me. So far I'm the only one with a tick-Gracie hasn't had one yet.

Hi LJ!
Great that You commented today! I´ve lost all my adresses since my old computor said goodbye when the lightning hit it :-)

How gorgeous it is where you are, Christer...just beautiful!
Ticks. They invaded my home some years ago...and I want to tell you they are horrible looking. Especially the ones carrying eggs! I found them actually crawling up my wall and went nuts having the place exterminated and didn't sleep for a week. YIKES! I hate those things as bad as you do those stick things ...almost..

The cottage by the Cranelake said...

Hi Mona!
I do like it here :-)

Thank god I´ve never been invaded by ticks! They are disgusting enough like it is out there in the forest!!

My stick insect was nothing compared to that :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.
