Do You know that they now have managed to create life from scratch? They emptied a cell and kept the cell skin. After that they took the different kinds of DNA they wanted, put it together and put it inside the cell skin. After a while the cell started to split into more cells and a new bacteria was born. The scientist says this is just the beginning, soon they will be able to create anything they like.

He also says that there´s no risk in this, these creations will not be able to survive outside the laboratory. Soon they might be able to create bacteria that will produce fuels of different kinds. Is anyone more than I a bit sceptical to this and what he says? We all know that scientists like that usually make mistakes. Like for instance the corn that they made toxic towards a special insect that ate on it. Suddenly there were no insects at all in the areas they grew that special corn??!! The creators of this corn then said: We had no idea this could happen!

When someone crosses the line like this someone else will sooner or later abuse the idea and create much worse things. Some just thinks that everything is ok in love and war, isn´t it? I don´t like that some people likes to play Good either. We don´t have that much sense in our heads to manage that I´m afraid. But suddenly there´s no use being afraid of nuclear bombs any more, why use things like that when bacteria is as efficient but more silent :-) :-) :-)

I don´t know why but lately I´ve lost hope for humanity. I´ve always believed that we might fix it in the end, but that has changed. I´m not walking around depressed about it though. I just started to wonder one day what would come after us, because I didn´t believe we would last till the end of time as I always believed before. They say cockroaches will survive most anything, that would be a world worth seeing :-) :-) :-)

I promise that I´ll be more positive tomorrow and there after again :-)  It´s no use walking around thinking about the end of our time or what horrible creatures mankind will create to kill itself :-) Now it´s time for some breakfast and a pot of tea :-)

Have a great day, I will!

We are trying to fix it, Christer, and that's how we get into trouble. We are like small children whose curiosity leads them into precarious situations. Unfortunately we have no adults to watch over us.

Perhaps, as a species, Humans could never have remained in the Garden of Eden. Life with no worries or challenges would have been death to us.

And now please say what the white frilly flower is in the 8th photo from the top. Thanks and have a great day.

Hi Caryn!
At least some scientist would need a slap in their faces so thay start to think about what they really are doing :-) :-)

So true, to many would have gotten bored already after a couple of days in the garden of Eden :-)

That is a clematis I´ve sown many years ago. I call it 'Tove' after a friend that died of breast cancer just when it was about to flower for the first time. I think I have a photo where it shows how it alsmost covers an old dead plum tree.
Take care now!
Christer.

Hi Christer, how lovely to see all your spring almost summer flowers. Such beautiful photos.
When I see such beauty amidst the horrors that are happening as you have written, I have some hope that we are all not driven by greed and desire for more money and more of everything.

I would love to know the name of the plant with the heart shape red flowers.

It is quite interesting that man is so intent on destroying himself and his world in the race for wealth.

I hope you were sitting in a lovely warm spot for your tea and breakfast.

From Jurassic Park, "Just because it can be done doesn't mean it should be done." It's like the military, they have great weapons. What's the point of great weapons if you don't get to use them? We create our own destiny and destruction. Next time around, we're just going to be heads on pedestals -- according to Star Trek, circa 1970... Thanks for the beautiful pictures, Christer...

Hi Aussimade!
Great that You comment here today, because I have a new computor (the old one got hit by lightning) and I couldn´t find You again!

It should have been early summer here now, but it´s rather cold still. Some springflowers should have stopped flowering now, but continues like there were no summer :-)

I think it´s mostly about money, but sometimes they just wants to know if it is possible to do what they do. Unfortunally they seemes to have forgotten that they might not be able to control what they´ve done.

That flower is the Bleeding heart (Lamprocapnos spectabilis, new name it was dicentra before). It´s an easy plant and would work perfect where You live.

Breakfast was really nice :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Sharlene!
So true! But some people just can´t stop themselves when they start thinking of possibilities. Unfortunally they never seeme to think of what can happen and ignores eventual problems.

I remember that Star Treck :-):-) I hope I´m long gone when it comes to that :-) :-) :-)
Have a great day now!

Beautiful pictures today Christer. Sorry, the script doesn't fit the beauty we behold especially in the top photo which is stunning. I just stole it.

I love that clematis, too. It's different.

Yeah, the way they produced a living organism strictly via chemically-created compounds scares me a little too, my friend. You're not the only one. It's NOT harmless and it will create trouble.. once they learn how to carry it outside the lab. Ahh.. but that worry is for another day.

To answer your question.. here's a YouTube video about cockroaches and nuclear blasts (survival). Enjoy! :)

People truly believe that their discoveries will be beneficial. The inventor of the Gatling gun felt that it would end war because the gun was so efficient at killing large numbers of people that no one would use it. Mutual Assured Destruction was based on the idea that no one would drop an atom bomb first because the other side could get back just as bad. Folks forget to factor in the possibility that other folks are just plain crazy enough to do it anyway.

I had a wild relative of the bleeding heart. The flower was pale green and yellow. I think it was called Pale Corydalis.

I started off this morning by reading about the horrible air quality of the city I live in...next was an article about how we are irradiating ourselves out of existence because of the cell phone towers being thrown up everywhere to accomodate our high-tech toys...then some light reading about North Korea. So I went to blogland for some escapism, only to run across Christer's little ray of sunshine : ) . Hopefully we will both be more positive tomorrow. I for one am going to stay away from the news.

Hi Perovskia!
It´s fun to sow clematis because if it not is a species You´ll never know how it will look like when it starts to flower :-)

Yes it will give us problems but I hope it will be when I´m old enough to pass away anyway :-) :-)

I´ll take a look at that video!
Have a great day now!

Hi Caryn!
The problem is that they never thinks one step longer. Their intentions might be good, but the road to hell is paved with good intentions :-) :-) and as You say, there are lots of crazy people out there.

Pale Corydalis is so beautiful! I think I´ll buy some seeds to next year.
Have a great day now!

Hi Marjorie!
Not a too good start of the morning then :-) :-) But I totally forgot about North Korea. If I had that my blog would have been even more gloomy :-) :-) :-)

I promise to be more positive in tomorrows blog :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

I am a skeptic...but so many things would not have been discovered had science not been at work. There will always be good and bad...as we move through time.
It is a worry, but it won't do us any good to be concerned...as it will go forward anyway...
North Korea...now that's another subject. My neighbors in Bakersfield California were from North Korea and used to travel back and forth...I loved my neighbors and it worried me when they went home...it is NOT a happy place,North Korea.
I still remember Patrick fighting in Korea as an 18 year old young man...and still there is a threat from them...he came home changed.

Any idea's on how to clean up our gulf coast?? :)
Your flower photo's are always so interesting...so different...
Take care, Christer..

Hi Mona!
That´s true, science has done lots of good too. But nowdays they seeme to think that they are gods and really doesn´t care if what they do is good or bad. They just do it because they can.

Yes North Korea is a place to avoid! Lots of people came back from there and had changed. Just like it was after Vietnam.
Have a great day now!
Christer.
