Not much sun as You can see :-) But almost all snow is gone so now I can walk over the fields again. That is my little cottage You can see here.

For a week now they have predicted that we would have sun all day and up to 15C (59F) degrees warms. So I wasn´t the least surprised this morning when we had frost on the ground. I didn´t get surprised later on either, when I was in Falköping and the rain poured down. It rained that much that it was impossible to take any photo´s :-) For tomorrow they have predicted rain and cold weather. With my luck that is a correct prediction :-) :-)

The cranes are flying in towards the lake.

I went to Falköping today to buy some fire wood for my kitchen stove. I normally buys Fire logs, but last week they told me that it most probably would be impossible to get any more of those before autumn. So I was happily surprised when that just had resived some this morning. They are a bit cheaper than fire wood when buying so little of it. Otherwise fire wood is the best and cheapest, but since my hip is like it is, it´s a bit too much work with loads of fire wood.

I stopped by the crane lake on my way home. There´s still just around 2600 cranes there, but more are comming by the hour. Last year we reached a record by having 18500 cranes by the lake at the same time. Now hunters are screaming for the chance to shoot some of them. There must be something wrong in the head of some people when the first thing they want is to kill some animals just because they are plentiful. I don´t think they´ll get that chance for a very long time. Every one loves cranes here :-)

And every year by this time there´s a café opening. The coffee is good and fairly cheap.

I was thinking of buying a pot of daffodils since the ones we have not even has started to show here. But they didn´t have any in my grocery store yet. Do You know that here in Sweden daffodils are called Easter Lilies? The close relative Poets daffodil is called Pentecost lilies. They tend to flower around those holidays. But they did however have some Easter cactuses (Rhipsalidopsis gaertneri). They are amongst my favourites so I bought one of those until the daffodils comes next week.

Since the weather prediction made this morning predicts cloudy weather and perhaps some rain, I´m not especially surprised that the sun is shining at the moment :-) I wonder, do they have drunk monkeys making these predictions? It would explaine a lot :-) :-)
Anyway, I might just take a cup of tea and place myself on my kitchen stairs and enjoy the day.

Have a great day now, I will!

I just wanted to show You a guest by my feeders yesterday. It´s the Hawfinch. Perhaps not so uncommon here, but this is the first time I´ve seen it by my feeder. The beak is so strong that it without problems cracks cherry seeds.

Not the best of quality in this photo, but You can see how it looks anyway.

Hi Christer! Good morning! The cactus you show this morning is called a Christmas Cactus here. At least in California. :) That little Cafe. If you get a chance, please take photo's of the inside of it.
I like the color of your little cottage. One of my favorites.
There is a red house in a neighborhood near us and I admire it each time we pass by.

Would you just LOOK at all the Cranes!!! You are going to have such a glorious Spring in Sweden!
Enjoy your tea.. :)

Hi Mona!
Are You sure it´s this cactus You call Christmas cactus? They look very much alaike in many ways, but usually this one points up so one can see the flower easily. Christmas cactuses usually looks towards the ground. Anyway, thay are so beautiful!

Over here almost half of the houses on the country side has that color, we just love it :-)

I´ll try to remember taking a photo from the inside of that little café. Before they used to have it in the little village school I showed in the last blog I made before this one.

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Joyce!
I was out on the net to find the english name on this cactus and Easter cactus was the name I got in all cases :-) :-) But the name Christmas cactus came up on searching on Schlumbergera ×buckleyi. That one we too call Christmas cactus :-)

The peregrin falcon is really rare over here. They were almost totally extinct a couple of years ago. But I don´t think there are a more beautiful falcon! That Red tangier were soo beautiful too! It seemes You have more colorful birds than we have over here.

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Good morning, Christer! (At least it's morning in my neck of the woods!)

I'm also confused about the need to hunt cranes...who does that? And why? Nobody in my family is a hunter, so I don't quite see the sport and as for population control...don't they leave after a certain amount of time?

Anyway, we've had up and down weather too. Most all of the snow has melted away, but cold rain is forecasted for Saturday...great...Mary's first soccer game (insert sarcasm).

Here's to warmer days ahead,
Valerie

dearest christer you sound like you are doing well! i am glad to see you are getting out and about. i love your little cottage, it looks like it came out of a fairy tale-
i am always surprised you have so many birds around with the cats!
the hawfinch reminds me of a puffin with its large beak and roundness, i know it is tiny compared but they both just make me smile:)
enjoy your lovely weekend ahead

Lovely cottage photo. It looks like it was there when Sweden was discovered. Pretty red color. I remember last year you were thinking of painting it. Where is the garage? Love the feeder and the Hawfinch. Robust looking bird. And how 'bout those crazy people who want to kill off your Crane population. Nice to know Sweden has Teabaggars too. Or U.S. Republicans maybe, who left the country here already. Sorry they landed on your doorstep. Just kidding of course, it just sounds like something they would do. They like to kill human animals as well. So have a great weekend with sunshine! I'm sending you some from Florida.

Hi Valerie!

I can´t think of any reason to hunt cranes, they do no damage on anything. It´s just the joy of killing I think :-) :-) :-) To be honest, it´s just stupid!

So the first soccer game is comming up :-) I didn´t comment on that one on Your blog since I have never played soccer myself :-) I hold my thumbs for luck for her! and that the sun will shine at least during the game!
Have a great day now!

Hi Splendid!

I too lime my little cottage :-) But this year I really need to paint it. I should have done that last year, but I never got around to do it for some reason.

In a way You´re right about the likness with the Puffin :-) :-) But I actully think that the Hawfinch is much stronger in the beak than the puffin is :-) :-)

Have a great day now!

Hi Z&M!
I have to paint it this year, now it can´t wait any longer. My garage is behind the cottage, on the other side of the road. So it´s impossible too see from this angle.

Oh yes, we do have them too. But very few than god :-) :-) This week that cought two hunters that shot a bear. They claim they were out hunting foxes. Unfortunally they just wounded the poor bear really bad, so when the police found it they had to kill it. They followed the bears tracks and found three cubs. So they had to shoot them too. These hu´nters will get in big troubles I´m happy to say :-)

I´m looking forward to that sunshine. Will most probably turn up here on tuesday then :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Tihi. One can wonder! (...´Bout those who do the weather forcasting...)... We in Skane do that a lot! "In the south..." they say... But by now we know they can´t be talking of Skane any way!;-)
Lovely Cactus you´ve bought! But: in my flower shop they had Daffofils today! So I bought some. And some Muscari & Pansies to. Spring is finally here! Halleluja!;-) (Looks you´ve got rid of the snow to!...?)

I love your cottage and the views. Sorry about the Bears situation. I hope they really get fined...So glad you're doing better.

That is a beautiful bird. I've never seen that kind before. Thanks for sharing it.

Hi Nina!
Yes one can wonder :-) :-) I´ve always wondered if I live by the west coast or northern Götaland. Nothing seemes to fit our weather anyway :-) :-)

I´ll get daffodils later this comming week instead. Those in the garden won´t show them selves for yet a couple of weeks I feel :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Sharlene!
From what I´ve heard in the news they will most probably get away easy from shooting that bear. Wouldn´t surprise me if the prosecutor is a hunter too.

Yes I´m doing better by the day here :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Have a great day now!

Jo visst är det så :-) Här är det ju tur att alla flyttfåglarna kommer, för i växtväg har det inte kommit så mycket vårtecken :-)
Ha det gott!
