I´m in a real bad mood today. We´re having a snowstorm again and this awful white mess seemes never to stop falling from the sky! So now I can´t take my walks outside, i have to walk around in my cottage all the time. The sun will come tomorrow they say. It will also become much colder again. so there´s no spring even close to come up from the south.

Another thing that makes me mad is the railway company! We have one big and they sort of does as they like with their customers. According to them service must mean that the customer has to follow their ideas how stupid they might be, because there´s no one else to turn to.

Like today when I was phoning to them to order a ticket for my mother on Friday. At first nothing happens at all. After five minutes a voice is heard telling me that I have to wait over twenty minutes to be able to order the ticket. After twenty minutes they just disconnect me from the line so I´ll have to start all over again!!!!!

When I finally reaches a real person they tell me that I have to get the ticket already today! It can´t wait until friday for some reason one doesn´t get to know. It´s just that way!! I can pay for it via internet, but I still have to get it today or get it by post. Well, nothing works as it should in this garbage weather so the ticket might not arrive in time!

So on Friday I´ll have to send my mother on her way without knowing if she´ll get the ticket she wants. If the trains are full she then has to buy tickets for another day, come back to me just to go away the day after or a couple of days later. Why can´t things just be a bit simple sometimes :-) :-)
Have a great day now!

That's extraordinary. One would think Sweden is living in the past. These are problems you read about for people living in the 1940's over here. Today we go online and pick the cheapest fare and book it, all said and done in less than 30 mins. And if you're flying, you can even book the seat you want, window or ailse. So I feel for you. What a mess and it might be too cold for your Mom to go through all that especially if she doesn't get a ticket. Don't they have special needs accommodations for Seniors over there? I would think Sweden would be ahead of the U.S. in that category. Stay well!

hi christer....i hate it when things like that happen. i especially hate it when i get cut off after waiting on the phone. hooray! canada won! i was hoping canada would win the gold for hockey because sid crosby plays for our home team here. That 't' shaped thing for the crepes is called a rateau and it used to spread the batter on the crepe maker. it is snowing here again and i think another storm comes here on wednesday. but then it warms up for next weekend. i can tell spring is almost here by listening to the birds. hope things work out for your mother! joyce

Ah Christer.

Sorry to hear that you are in a foul mood...I would be too with all those inconveniences.

Love us or hate us...there is something to be said about capitalism and competition that isn't all bad! When I taught, I tried to instill in my students that competition with oneself makes us work harder...to achieve greater...to improve ourselves. The same can be true of business.

Now, don't get me wrong, there are definitely downsides to capitalism...commercialism being one of them, but it does sound frustrating that there is no other train service that you can turn to...a little friendly competition might force them to up the customer service level.

Anyway, sorry that Spring hasn't made her appearance yet...you must be craving the outdoors! Wishing your mom a safe and reliable trip home,

Valerie

Just like all the previous comments I too feel your pain and sadness. I hope your Mom will get there soon and safely and that your snow will go away like right now....OK then as soon as possible. :)

Christer.

Hi Z&M!
The only thinbg we can´t do it seemes is to order a ticket and get it and pay for it just before the trip? I can order it now, but then I´ll have to fetch it immediatly or get it by mail.

Since nothing really works now when all this snow has fallen I´m not sure I would get it in time by mail. So we´ll take a chance on Friday.

When it comes to traintravels we are a bit behind. They are opening the market for other companies, but only those that doesn´t give any profit :-) :-) :-)
Have a great day now!

Hi Joyce!
Yes, getting cut of in a phone line is really annoying!!

Yes HOORAY! for Canada :-)They do usually have the best team :-)

Birds do sing their spring songs over here, but the weather says very different :-)I do hope it could melt down now, I´m so tired of it now!
Have a great day now!

Christer.

Hi Valerie!
They are opening up the railways too, but very slow. As You say, there are both positive and negative things with capitalism. In Europe we´ve tried to go a middle way and as long as all did like that it worked quite ok. But now it´s all a mess sometimes :-) :-)

The sun is shining right now and the temperatures are low, low, low. But I will at least take a walk or two :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi :) U complaine about swedish railways and booking online or via post... yeah, its funny - cause n 2010, living in Ukraine, I cant order any ticket online :)) Have spent 2 years in Denmark, I`ve got a lot things to compare ofcourse. Its a real mess living in a country like UA, but not in Sweden. I really know the difference )))..
p.s. hope U`ll be ok in a week or so, and can afford sleeping not only in 2 positions.
Vadim

Hi Vadim and welcome to my little blog!

I can understand how You mean :-) We are a bit spoiled here in western Europe to be honest. So when we don´t get it as we want it we do get very annoyed :-) :-)

I think I´m allowed to get rid of that pillow that stops me from sleeping like I want to in about five weeks, so until then I most probably will complain about my back :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.
