A temporary solution for my Frostgrape vine. But now it at least gets some sunshine.

The wind is howling and the rain is pouring down. Not entirely true to be honest, but it looks better when writing it :-) But we do have a strong wind and the rain comes and goes in showers or as misty drizzle. No matter how the rain falls I get soaked and cold when going outside. But outside I had to go today. My goal was to drive to the beautiful town Lidköping.

Even I would have no problems passing around that gate! They should naturally have barbed wire on the sides too!

My camera had arrived You see. It turned out it had arrived already on Wednesday but since everyone in the store thought someone already had phoned me no one did :-) So Yesterday afternoon a Young very happy and slightly laughing girl phoned me to say that the camera had arrived and that every one there thought that someone already had phoned me :-) :-) :-)

And the lake just goes on and on and on........

So off I went this morning to fetch my new camera. I went early since it took some time the last time I was there. There was a bit of problem this time too since no one seemed to know what paper I should sign. You know the troubles I had with that membership card? I had gotten the papers for the card I shouldn´t have in my mail and didn´t dare to do anything with it until I knew for sure that they had the right papers in the store. While I was waiting for everything to be ok I looked at the DVD’s they were selling. So I came home with two of them too :-) “Alice in Wonderland” and “The Proposal” with Sandra Bullock.

I promised some more photo´s from Lidköping the last time and I got some down by the lake Vänern. I drove to a small Marina that I know of. It was just like when I had my sailboat but without one very important thing! The scents from a salty ocean. Seagulls however flew above my head most of the time :-)Vänern is Sweden’s biggest and Europe’s third biggest lake. Nothing compared to the big ones in Northern America though.

This is just by the harbour close to the city.I think the buildings You can see behind the bridge once belonged to the porcelain factory (Rörstrands) that was here not to many years ago.

But now I´m waiting for the battery to get charged before I can test it. It seems one can do a zillion things with it and I would be surprised if I even got to learn half of it :-) :-) :-) So during my waiting I´ll have a cup of tea and after that I´ll look at the European Athletic championship. We Swedes doesn´t do especially well this year, nor does the Danes, Norwegians or Finns either I´m afraid.
Have a great day now!

My new camera! Like most things I have it must get a name :-) But I can´t decide that before I´ve properly have met and used it :-)

Christer.

Hello Christer,
Congratulations on your new camera, it seems to be robust and very professional.
Hahaha I like your tone of a writer with that of falling rain and howling winds.
It is more dramatic than just talking about showers. Even at the end you wet anyway :)
But ... I do not understand it, the summer is over?
Seeing your pictures I get the feeling of cold, which is good until it is refreshing to me that I'm in the heat.
kisses and good fun with her new toy
Didi

Hi Didi!
It does sound much better than showers and wind :-) :-)

I hope the camera is like it looks :-) We have been arguing some already but now I think I know the basics anyway.

The summer is going towards its end here. But this is normal summer weather up here in the north. Some summers only have cold and rainy weather but we usually gets some really hot weeks too. Unfortunally we got them before vacation time this year :-) :-)

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Sharlene!
I´m glad that You like what I´m doing here :-)

Let us now hope that I at least don´t take worse photo´s with the new camera :-) I´ve just come home from a test run and can honestly say that I haven´t a clue how to use it :-) :-) :-)
Have a great day now!

My suggestion for your camera's name is Nike, for the Greek goddess of strength, speed and victory.

I always enjoy visiting your blog; it is a daily oasis. I just launched mine. Please come take a look....

Hi Christer
Looking forward to your comments about the new camera. I'm thinking of getting a new and more complicated one myself. Well, at least one that would allow me to make some decisions for myself. :-) Good luck figuring out the new toy.

That is a cool looking camera. It looks similar to a 35 mm and probably has zoom features as well. Thanks for the town photos. It reminds me of Lake Michigan.

The cottage by the Cranelake said...

Hi Joyce!
It does look great, I hope it is too :-) :-)

I don´t ha a problem with long explanations on the instructions to the camera. Quite the opposite actually. But I got a CD that will explain more I hope :-)

It is much easier to have someone learning how the camera works than to read about it. I hope the Blog tech is a good explanator :-)

I´ve seen some parts of that movie and it semes hilarious :-)

Your big lakes are really big, ours is just big :-)

have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Chris!
Nike is a good name, but at the moment I´m thinking of something like Eeyore because of its moody behaviour :-) :-)

I´m glad You like my blog :-) I´ll pop over to Yours soon.
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Caryn!
That was the reason I wanted a camera like this, so I can decide some things by myself :-)

I´m usually not to positive about my new tecnology things in the beginning :-) But as soon as I figure it out I´m much more positive :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Z&M!
I think it is just like the old 35mm cameras, but digital. It has a zoom but it´s not to good it seems. Well I´ll figure out more tomorrow :-)

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi again! I actually differentiate between angel wing begonias and faery wing begonias. The angel wing variety have solid green leaves, and the faery wing kind have all those groovy dots..... At least that is the way I have always understood it, but I could be making it all up in my head!

The cottage by the Cranelake said...

Hi again Chris!
I don´t think we call any of them faery wings over here. But if the leafs are really big we call them Pigs ears :-) Names are usually very regional to be honest.

Today sure was a dreary looking day for you, Christer, but then going to pick up the new camera was a good reason to travel. I also recently switched digital cameras and bought a Nikon P90 which has a zoom, but not interchanegable lenses. It is my first time using a Nikon and I haven't even started on the manual. My test with it will be this weekend when we take a day trip.

Hope your PC is still doing OK after the HP support tech recalled. I had a question about my new HP desktop and emailed HP support and they have been following up to "see" if the problem is resolved. Grenville was adding a DVD/CD drive from my older desktop to this new one, which came with 1 drive, but I wanted to add a second.

Thanks for guessing about the veggies - you had several correct. Most people did not even attempt any guessses. The answers are posted today.

Enjoy your new camera and I like the name, Eeyore.

Beatrice P. Boyd said...

Forgot to add that the CD that came with the camera may have imaging software and not any explanations on how to use it. That's what the ones that came with my digital cameras always had, but then maybe Nikon is different.

You are our grand prize winner. Your 5 ton Zuccinni is waiting for you here at the F&P. Just hope on over and grab it.
Good luck on your new camera. I think Eyore is a fine name. Glad you read the Tao and Te books. Beatrice is thinking of reading the instruction book for her's.
Very nice lake pictures, especially the last one with that nice little sailboat.

The cottage by the Cranelake said...

Hi Beatrice!
I was looking at the P90 too, but since I want to be able to change lenses I went for the D3000. The manual for this one was most like "this is how You take a photograph", didn´t tell me much about the different adjustments I can do by my self though. But I did get two CD:s. One was the same You´ve gotten, but the other one is a reference manual. It´s said to contain more information about what I want to know.

My computer still works fine (cross Your fingers :-) ) Now I got a mail to a survey telling them how much I liked their help! They will get top credit from me :-)

Ofcourse I had to guess on the veggies :-) But I have to admit it was really difficult!
Have a great day now!
Christer.

The cottage by the Cranelake said...

Hi Grenville!
5 tons! Jolly good! I know exactly what to do with them :-) :-)

One of my closest friends is a Taoist and he gave me the first book. I thought it was so interesting that I bought the Te book myself.

That is a beautiful boat! I wonder if it has Lidköping as its home harbour.

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hej, hej Christer!

Anja

Wow..I made a comment on the post you made today..tonight..whatever...and said I didn't see a difference..but...these pictures are just gorgeous!!! BEAUTIFUL!!
The top ones you took today of the fields etc...didn't seem as clear as these...
My eyes??? :)
Take care..
and enjoy! So glad you finally got your camera!
Mona

Christer.

Hi Mona!
It seemes the photo´s I take with the new camera turns out a bit blurry here on the blog, but become good when clicking on them to make them bigger. I think I´ll take photo´s with less megapixles and see what difference it makes.

Much to learn I´m afraid :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.
