One thing is sure though. My old camera showed the true colors better than this one does. The grass is deeper green in real life. Perhaps I can adjust that? I did notice now that the photo´s are looking blurry here on the blog. But if You click on them they become bigger and not blurry at all! To high quality with 10 megapixel photo´s perhaps?

The day started out cloudy, windy and cool but just now I can see a glimpse of the sun again. I don´t know how much rain we´ve gotten these last few days, but my pond is over full and that means a lot of rain. I can also see it on the rasp berries in the forest. They have already started to decompose and that´s way too early. I was planning on picking some to make me some jam, but now it´s too late I´m afraid.

So I fetched my new camera yesterday and went out for some test photographing when it didn´t rain that much. I can use the automatic settings if I want too but I can also use four different settings (that I can adjust after my own will) , but I still haven´t understood the difference between these four settings. The only thing I can see is that the blender is different on each one of them.

So this morning I took four photos of every object to see the difference. The only problem is that on each photo series no one of the setting made the best photo all of the time. I would like to say that they all was the best at one time each :-) :-) :-) So today I`ll put the second CD in my computer to see if that explains more about my camera. The instruction book mostly showed ”This is how You take a photograph”. That I already know, now I want to know more about the different adjustments I can do.

I tried the automatic setting too. But it always shows that I need the flash. ”It´s too dark” it says on the display. How much use is a flash when taking a photo of the mountain several kilometers (several miles) away :-) :-) :-) I´ve also decided that my cameras name now is Eeyor, well it´s really Ior which is the Swedish name for Eeyor. It does what it is supposed to do, but not without a bit of protesting first :-)

Now it´s time for a cup of tea, a scones or two that I baked yesterday since I had no bread left and then off to the grocery store in Gudhem.

Have a great day now!

Wow...what fun. I am enlarging all of the pictures...how lovely!
Especially the ones of the town and the water and the dock...all of them. It's like standing right there.
So...I don't have to come to Sweden..these will do! :):)
What a gorgeous country you live in, and what wonderful places to take a walk! I love it! I was Wrong. There IS a difference. A big one!
Take care...enjoy your great camera.

Hi Mona!
It´s fun to try this camera :-) I now understand that I can´t trust the little display on the camera. When my photo´s look fine there, they become to light in the computer.

Internet is a perfect place to travel the world :-) :-)
Have a great day now!

There is one photo that is too dark, I think. It's next to the last photo where you write about getting a cup of tea. But the others look fine, pretty picture of the cottage. I'm getting the feeling that you are not happy with your new camera.

"when all else fails, read the manual!" popular saying here in Ireland....
you'll figure it all out soon, and i guess you still have the old one left, but that's no good if you paid a lot of kronor for the new one.
i love the photos, i like the purple flower a teh end, it looks like a thistle flower to me.

Hi Z&M! That photo is the only one showing how dark it really was here this morning :-) :-)

Oh, this is just beginning feelings :-) I´ve realised that I can´t trust the LCD display at all :-) When the photo´s looks ok there they come out way to light.

So to be honest I´m really happy about my new camera, I´ll just have to find out how it works :-) :-)
Have a great day now!

Hi Liz!
I´ve just visited You :-)

The manual is more like "THIS IS A CAMERA, YOU TAKE PHOTO´S WITN IT" :-) :-) But I´m going to check out that other CD I got too. I hope it´ll explain more.

I do like this new camera and there´ll be a lot of triel and error before I know how it works :-) :-) It is a thistle flower! I think they are so beautiful.

Have a great day now!

hi christer! i think the photos are great. the one of the 3 pups with the trees in the background is fantastic. in all the years that you have shown the portal, this is the best view i have ever seen. i think it takes a lot of practice and you should also use a computer photo download. photoshop is one. i use iphoto. then you can adjust so many elements of your photos. joyce

Hi Christer,
I guess you'll just have to trust what you know and what you see in the view finder. I know I have to fiddle with my digital pics a bit in iPhoto because the color is not always what I want. I have a 12 MP and sometime the pictures have "noise" or blurring when I post them on other sites. I've learned that it has to be crystal sharp on the view screen for that not to happen.

Thistle is a lovely flower but it seeds itself everywhere. The whole time I was growing up, I thought the flat, first year rosettes of thistle leaves were what people meant when they talked about crabgrass in their lawns. It didn't look like grass but it sure bit when I stepped on it in my bare feet. I have a fine crop growing by my back door this summer. The birds will be happy.

Have a great day. Keep playing with that camera. :-)

Hi Joyce!
I like that photo too, I think the colors came out best in that.

Lots of practice is needed :-) It was qiet some time since I used a camera like this :-) But the LCD is fooling me. If it looks too dark in that the photo probably is rather good :-) :-) Now I´m going to download the second CD I got.

I wish I could get back the old photo editing program I had, but my new computer doesn´t understand that old programming that was made with.
Have a great day now!

Hi Caryn!
I´ve just been outside playing with my camera and now I´m certain that I can´t trust the LCD screen. If they look very dark on there they´ll turn out to be just fine :-)

Great to know why the photo´s look a bit blurry here! Thanks!

I´ve never heard about crab grass before but it is a good name for them :-) :-) As You say, they are really beautiful but has a tendensy :-) to be too many. So I´m tough towards them here in my garden.

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Christer,
well ... for me with the new machine yours pictures to continue excellent and now are bigger than before!
Entering the blog they always seem a little blurry. But I think this is something the Blogger's own...
or maybe the width of the column ... ... or maybe my monitor ...or my myopia :)
But when I click and expands it becomes perfect.
Funny idea to take a landscape photo using flash. I wonder what the machine thinks? The name with whom you named your new camera is very nice :)

Hi Didi!
Perhaps it´s just to much information in the photo that makes it hard to reduce them in size and keeping the quality? But it´s good to know that they become good when making them bigger.

The machine is probably programmed to use the flash in automatic settings whenever there´s very little light. I can remove that function in all other settings. But it was kind of fun when the flash showed itself :-) :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi,
Perhaps the size to show ... and possibly the size to show all the photos to enter the page of this post ...
What I realized in my blog is that increasing the width of the column, and put a white area around, the images appear sharper.
It must have been for these changes... because I didn't get better photographer.
About the colors you commented not seem to be realistic ... I always find it in my pictures! Never looks good. So often I end up editing the picture in any graphic program.
Either way yours are great.
Today I saw a tower factory (the first and fifth photo) ... at least I imagine to be a tower factory.
I can imagine how much you're having fun with your new machine. And we as readers will profit from it ;)

Didi

Hi Sharlene!
Yes it does take a while :-) But I don´t miss the old one though :-) :-)

I finally have started to understand the four different adjustment spots I can change settings on by myself :-) That second CD made the differense.
Have a great day now!

Hi Didi!
I´m sorry to say that it´s not a tower factory :-) :-) It is a communications tower for mobile phones and wire less internet :-) But it would have been fun if it was a tower factory :-) :-)

Yes a frame can make photo´s look sharper, but since the background already is white it does no use here on my blog. Perhaps I can change color on the frame?

I do have lots of fun :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Ohhh and I imagine an old and poetic factory ... chocolate factory! :)
For me you do not need to change anything. Well .. maybe if the photos has more big to enter into your blog. I have myopia ... but I click e. .. voilá ... they are big. Then all is well, very well :)

Hi Christer!

Guess what? I'm alive! And like I told you, I knew that I would feel 100% better after delivery...even though it meant undergoing a 3rd c-section!

I'm still in the hospital and this is the first day that I've had access to my husband's laptop and the free wifi here. Just dropping in to visit old friends that I've been missing over these past few weeks/months!

Little man made a safe arrival into the world weighing in at 8 lbs. 12 oz. and was 20 and 3/4 inches long. Big boy in there! Big brother and big sister are in love with him...mom and dad too! :)

Can't wait to get back to blogging regularly now that the nasty gestational diabetes has gone away!
Even with all night feedings I have way more energy!

Take care,
Val

LOL! You are making me laugh because I don't like to read manuals either. I find written instructions too confusing. Most of the time I'm better if someone just shows me.
Once I was driving with my niece, I stopped and asked her to take some photos of some sailboats. I told her to just try to "center" the boat. Ha! the joke was on me. (She's 15 yrs old) and she starts pushing this button and that button and was taking GREAT photos! I said "Hey how did you do that?!"
Guess I should have read MY manual!

Hi Cindi!
I think young folks today just reaches inte their genome and finds something that just has been waiting for evolution to reach :-) :-) They never seems to have to learn these new tecnological things, they just do it :-) :-)

Written instructions are just there when nothing else works :-) :-)
Have a great day now!

I also am curious about using my camera's manual settings. I haven't sat and played with them yet. The store where I got mine offers a free, sort of, "How to use your camera" session, so I might take them up on it to see if they can explain it further. I'll let you know if I see any differences.

The cottage by the Cranelake said...

Hi Perovskia!
I got such a lesson too, but it´s so far away that I won´t go. But reading the manual and playing with the camera is really good too.

I already feel that I take better photo´s now.

Have a great day now!
