Mme Hardy.

Vacation time has started :-) Well that´s not quite right, it starts on Monday but I´ve taken the day of tomorrow to vaccinate my dogs. But now I´m free from work the comming four weeks. Well that´s not quite true either. I´ll be working one day during my vacation because I´ll have to clean a big filter that much paint get stuck in. I´ll work the same day as my boss cleans the big washing mashine, it´s always funnier to work if I´m not alone.

Teodors favourite place at the moment. I think it´s Orvar that sort of made a mess of the rug :-)

So now I can do what ever I feel like :-) Well that´s not quite true either :-) I have to paint my cottage and i can´t say that I feel like doing that, but I just can´t wait another year I´m afraid. So I hope for no rain and a not to hot weather. If it´s to hot the paint will dry to fast and just get cracks and if it rains I can´t paint at all.

If You click on this photo (as You can do on all of them because theý get better then) You´ll see all the flies around especially Orvar but also Hector. I´ve noticed that black dogs attrackts much more flies than light colored does. I had a dog colored like a Golden retriver once and sha had almost never any flies around her.

Yesterday one of the speedtrains just stopped after leaving our capital. After a short while it got extremly warm in the train and the travellers wanted them to open the doors. The traincompany refused for security reasons. They had no water and the air condition didn´t work, so the temperatures went up to 60C (140F) but the traincompany still refused to open the doors. Suddenly a six months old baby and an older man passed out, so the passengers used the emergency ax to break the windows.

Greater musk mallow, Malva alcea.

I think this is an Adenophora latifolia, a Lady bell.

After many hours they changed to a replacement train and when it had gone  some distance it broke down!! So once again they had to wait for replacement trains. The last bit of their journy had to be on commuters. They cried when they finally arriwed at Gothenburg 12hours later. That journy usually takes three hours. There was an emergency train redy to get them already at the first breakdown, but prestige within the traincompany did that they didn´t want to use another company´s train! Well that´s how things work over here :-) :-)

I like to sow seeds from my own delphiniums. I never knows what color it will get. I don´t even know what to call this color, it´s almost grey :-)

I´m not sure I like the color of this lily. But it flowers nicly every year so I leave it alone.

Now it´s time for a cup of tea, read a lot of blogs and then nothing. I´ll shut down my brain until tomorrow :-) Perhaps I´ll look at a dvd I bought yesterday. I was going to buy the new Alice in wonderland but couldn´t find it. So I bought an animated film called Planet 51. I´ve seen trailers from it and it looks really fun. I also have a work friend (19 years old ) that thinks it is a cool film :-)
Have a great day now!

we finally have rules about leaving people on planes because of those very problems. now an airline must pay almost 30,000.00 for each hour they keep people trapped on the plane. do the flies bite the dogs? they look nasty? they would drive me totally crazy! you are so lucky to get so much time off. i already saw school supplies and fall decorations at the store they other day. enjoy some relaxing time christer! joyce

Hi Joyce!
They really should have these rules here too! It´s dangerous to be in those high temperatures!

It´s easier for the flies to bite me, the fur on my dogs is to thick. But most of those flies are just annoying, we call them forest flies and they don´t bite thank good!

Yes I´ve come to understand how lucke we are having this long vacation here :-) To be honest, I don´t understand how people can make it throug summer with less vacation. Now is the time we sort of build up energy to cope with our winters. I will enjoy every second of it. Before I know it the vacation we be over :-)

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Christer,
Everything on your blog is always nice:) Well .. except the mosquitoes, they are very boring.
So nice to walk with dogs on the field, I did this a lot. But I can not imagine my Jung free in the fields. It is a city cat and very fearful.
This problem with the train ... I thought these things only happened here in Brazil!
Wish you have great holidays, relax and enjoy yourself :)

Vacation time is nice, for sure! Now that I'm retired, every day is like a vacation!

Sorry the flies are so bad there!

Hello again,
I get out but I was thinking about your question of the names of colors in english. And then I remembered that there is a classification system is called Pantone colors. But this system is closed and we have no access to it.
But there is another system that provides us with names, at least some name, you can consult the website www.ralcolor.com
Maybe the flower - you call gray to me in Portuguese is "lilás" has the name "Pearl black berry".
Hahaha I do not know if this will be useful or not. But I decided to tell you anyway :)

Hi Christer!

Just dropping by to say hello. I've been extremely busy and haven't had much of a chance to blog or visit, but when I logged in this PM and saw the rose I Just had to stop by!

Thanks for the bit of peace and tranquility that the rose photo provided for me!

So sorry to read about the train situation. I can't even imagine being stuck in tight quarters at that temperature. They're lucky more people didn't pass our or suffer from heat stroke/exhaustion. I certainly wouldn't have been able to make it!

We're in the middle of a heat wave here, so if I'm not at home in the air conditioning, I try to stay inside cool buildings. These past two weeks have been rough with Mary and Ben having swim lessons in the AM. Even though the temp might only be 88 or 90 degrees (F), the heat index is rising to 100 or above. UGH!

Take care,
Val

Good luck on the painting. I so very much understand.
Those flies may be like what we call Bot flies. Nasty critters. See google.
It's just before 7:00 pm and still over 90f(32c) so I'm still indoors. It didn't get hot today until afternoon. After a very restless night I had a really nice bike trip to the library this morning. When I got home I was through with the heat for the day.

I love these photos and cat/dog pictures are so interesting. Can't wait to get my computer back so I can blog again. It's difficult on a laptop and takes forever to load something. I'm happy you are free on vacation! I bet that's a wonderful feeling. Sorry you have to tie up a few days to paint the Cottage. But you'll be happy when it's finished and shining in the countryside. Take some pictures for us. I really enjoyed the ones you posted today. You are an excellent photographer.!!

OMG! That rose is unbelievably BEAUTIFUL! I love the photos! Ever single one! Gorgeous...I adore the pet photos and that Bertil just gets to me! LOVE HIM!
That train story is horrible! I'm claustrophobic and I would go NUTS if they locked me in there, even with out the heat, but I think with the heat I would have totally lost it!
Have a wonderful vacation! I am SO jealous! LOL! - Cindi

Hi Didi!
The flies and mosquitoes are terrible sometimes, especially this year since we had a cold and rainy spring. That´s just what they want.

My cats and dogs would be terrified if they had to walk around in a city :-) :-) My cats has never even been close to one and my dogs has been there short moments only and they don´t like it :-)

Our trains has had big troubles some time now. Especially during winter when many of them broke down because of the cold and snowy weather. They weren´t made to cope with that :-) :-) :-) It´s a bit funny really since we do have very cold and snowy winters here :-)

I promise tp relax as much as I can :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Jim!
I have to wait another twenty years (at least) until I can retire so I sort of envy You :-)

It´s because I live next door to a bog and this much north that there are so many flies here. But the season for those biting ones is short, so soon I´ll be free again :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Joyce!
Yep! It´s big over here :-) We call it "Tunnbrödrulle", that would be " Flat bread roll" in english. A perfect meal to end a great night :-)
Have a great day now!

Christer.

Hi Valerie!
I thought that rose would cought some attention :-) It´s the most beautiful in that stage I think. Fully open and it looks like so many other roses really :-)

It´s close for You now, isn´t it? So I guess that a heat wave and lots to do will take a lot of Your strength. Don´t over do it now!!

I feel so sorry for those people at that train! Unfortunally they don´t get much by complaining or sue the company.

Take care now!
Christer.

Hi Andréa!
Yes I´ve heard so much about Alöice so it would be fun to see it. Well, I´ll just have to wait a bit longer then.

It´s getting cooler here now, so my lilies will probably flower for a couple of weeks more :-)
Have a great day now!

Hi Oldfool!
My god what a nasty fly!!! Suddenly our very annoying forestflies seemes worth having around :-) :-) :-) That´s one kind of fly we don´t have over here and for that I´m grateful!

It´s getting cooler here again, so if it doesn´t rain I´ll start painting next week. It´s a bit funny really because I hate starting to paint, but when I´ve done that it´s fun :-)

I have to repaire my bike now when I can bike again after this last surgery. We have lots of smaller roads here and it´s great exercise for my dogs to run beside too.

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Z&M!
I too hope Your computer comes back soon! But it´s great that You can post something anyway. I have vire less broadband to my laptop, but lives close to those towers transmitting. So here it goes very fast to download photo´s.

It´s just starting to paint I don´t like :-) after that it´s quite fun :-)I promise to take before and after photo´s. I´m glad You like my photo´s :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Cindi!
The rose is most beautiful now, wellm it´s beautriful later on too but not even close to this. I´m glad You like my photo´s :-)

Bertil is a great cat, but not the least cuddly. Tha´s Teodors job :-) He never leavs You if You starts to scratch him on the back :-) :-)

I just can´t understand how people are thinking leaving these poor people in that train?? Horrible. I would most probably have been the first to use that emergency ax :-) :-)

I will enjoy this vacation :-) Thankfully I live in a country where everyone have five weeks vacation by law :-)

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi Sharon!
That rose has really cought some attention :-)

I feel so sorry for those people on that train and then to get another train that goes caput too! I don´t think I ever would go by train again in my life :-) :-)

I had as much flies around me too, but I do have my mosquitoe hat as protection. The forest flies wouldn´t have been that annoying if it wasn´t for their habit to try to get in to the nose and ears :-) :-)

It´s getting cooler and closer to normal summer temps now, so if it doesn´t rain to much (wich it most probably will since I have vacation) that painting will be finished in no time. My cottage is rather small :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.
