Something rather unusual happened last night, the temperature never dropped below 18,5C (65F). Usually it´s way cooler in the mornings up here in the north. But since they think the temperature will rise to over 32C (90F) today perhaps it´s not that surprising after all :-)

I woke up at five am and there was no use in trying to sleep any longer in that heat. So my dogs and I took our morning walk. I´m glad I brought my mosquitoe hat with me. If You think there was lots of flies in that little video I made some days ago, You would be amazed over how many it was with us today :-) :-) But fortunally they stayed in the shady places near the forest, so I could remove my hat when we came out to the open fields again.

But it is a bit strange, there are much fewer horse flies than I have suspected would come. Misunderstand me right now (swedish expression), we have plenty of them but not even close to how many I thought there would be. The season so far has been perfect for them, cold and rainy but perhaps all those earlier years with drought in spring and early summer has reduced them a lot? I do hope it will continue like that in the future :-) :-) :-)

I think this is a Geranium rose hybrid, Rosa moyesii. Someone I know sort of nicked a rose hip in a botanical garden, wich is very forbidden :-) and gave it to me. The flowers has almost no scent at all.

I have been feeling the smell of rotten flesh lately. I have walked around to see if I could find what ever it is and remove it. Naturally I´ve been suspecting my cats to have left a half eaten rat or something close to the cottage, forgetting that anything my cats leave my dogs will take :-) :-) :-) This morning I realised what it was, it´s the fly trap I put up some weeks ago :-) By the look at it I´ll have to buy many new ones this week. It´s so full of flies that it soon won´t be able to catch any more!

This rose has grown here for ages, but no one knows its name. Perhaps someone can help me with that when I can take a photo when the flower is fully open.

Well it´s time for another cup of tea by the kitchen stairs. I remembered yesterday that I promised to make a video to let You hear how the last letters in our alphabet sounds, didn´t I Joyce? a year ago or so :-) :-) Perhaps I´ll do the whole alphabet since we do say the letters different too. I´ll make it soon before I´´ll have a slow death in todays heat :-) :-) :-)
Have a great day now!

Teodor has seen one of my fish. It seemes I have them all there after all.

He´s not happy when I tell him to stop :-)

He does not even try to look innocent. If eyes could kill I wouldn´t write this now :-) :-) :-)

"If eyes could kill" isn't that the truth? Same here with my two beauties. So the fish are swimming in the pond. Very nice. Thanks for posting more award winning photos. It's always a treat to visit your blog. Please throw that smelly fly catcher in the trash. Buy a new one. It must smell terrible. I can't wait for the alphabet song. Have a great weekend. We celebrate our Independence here in the States. The party starts tonight.

I'm up early on my day off! The neighbors dogs were barking and woke up my house! Now all of mine are in a tizzy and I have to let them outside! Sometimes I wished I lived where there was more distance between houses! Your photos are so beautiful that I am envious! It would be so nice to be able to let my cats explore! I love all the flowers! I think I'm addicted to gardening now! I can't seem to go to the hardware store for paint or anything else without coming home with more plants. Well...if I have to be up this early...thanks for another beautiful post to look at! (I'd like to give my neighbor one of those "if looks could kill" looks!)

Hi Z&M!
I´m glad You like my photo´s :-)

The new ones smells just the same, so I´ll keep this and get some more too :-) It´s the smell that atrackts the flies to the trap, so now I have much fewer flies indoors :-) I have to take the good with the bad I´m afraid :-) :-)

Have a great part toninght then!
Christer.

Hi Oldblackcatboo!
It´s not fun to be woken up early on ones day of. I always wake up around five am, so I´m used to it :-)

It was a demand from me when I was looking for houses that it must be in a place where my dogs barking wouldn´t disturb neighbours. It didn´t come true to be honest :-) But my dogs only bark when I´m at work and those living close doesn´t care about barking thankfully.

That´s the danger with gardening :-) :-) :-) But a special slug has made me very unsure of buing plants nowdays. It´s called Spanish forestsnail. It has no natural enemies here and they eat absolutly everything. We don´t have it in our village yet, so I buy seeds instead. Takes longer time but it´s worth it compared having that slug!
I have the best neighbours one could wish for :-)

Have a great day now!
Christer.

oh that teodor! he is being a perfect cat and going after the fish! i always imagine what my fish think when they see those big chow chow paws in their pond. It must be like gulliver and the little people! my son is having his party tomorrow. everyone on our street is having a party it seems except for me. yet i am sure i am doing more cooking than all of them put together. all the parties are held on the night of the 4th so everyone can watch the fireworks! what a big surprise for the netherlands to beat brazil yesterday! i will be watching the rest of their games for sure! joyce

Hi Joyce!
:-) :-) Yes You will most probably make more food than any other :-) I read that some would start their party today. One more day to recover on I guess :-) :-)

It seemes my fish hasn´t understood that he can eat them :-) They are always on the edge of the pond. Perhaps they see him as the friendly gigant :-) :-)

Teddy however walks right down in to the pond so she must look dangerous to your fish :-)

I was surprised that the Netherlands won against Brazil! I thought the braziliens woul win the world cup this year. But it is great when the old dragons that always wins otherwise doesn´t win. It sort of gives a feeling that other countries has a chance too :-)
Have a great day now!

Christer, glad to read that your weather has gotten better. It has been much cooler and very pleasant here on the VA eastern shore the past few days, but we could deparately use RAIN...it is supposed to heat up again starting on Sunday and into next week, but no rain is forecast (sigh). ENjoyed the photo series on Teodor and the pond.

Living here on the ridge, it is a lot dryer and have hardly any flies. That I like.
Mosquitoes are not bad...only in the evening they show up and are few.
Hope your weather will be cooler for you soon if it hasn't happened already.

Hi Beatrice!
Yes we have so long longed for warmer weather so I refuse to complain, even if it is a bit hot to be honest :-) :-)

A coldfront will pass today, so we might get some rain. I´ll try to make it fly over to You later then :-)

Havbe a great 4th of July!
Christer.

Hi Diane!
It wouldn´t hurt if we had less flies and mosquitoes :-) :-) But then again, it´s almost never so dry that we have to be worried about forest fires. One sort of has to take the good with the bad :-) :-)

It should have been cooler by now, a cold front will pass today. But the morning is still to warm. So it´ll probably be thunder today.
Have a great 4th of July!
Christer.
