Last night the moon went in and out of the clouds. I was just waiting for the werewolfs to howl :-)

It´s not warm outside but not especially cold either. It´s a grey and damp day with haze and drizzle and it feels a bit chilly inside even if it really is quite warm. But I´ve started a fire in the stove to push all that dampness out of my home.

Bjurums castle.
There lived people in this house just a couple of years ago, now it´s empty and now it´s falling appart just some yards from the castle.

I´ve already done what I planned to do today, drive to the grocery store in Gudhem, so now I´m not sure of what to do the rest of the day :-) :-) I think I´ll watch the DVD I bought the other week , Liar Liar. I´ve heard it´s funny and even if I´m not the biggest fan of Jim Carrey I´ll give it a try.

This is a  typical kind of house they make nowdays.

The video further down isn´t anything to watch really, but I wanted to record how it sounds when going in the forest an early morning here near my village. So turn up the volyme so You can hear the birds as good as possible.

Houses seen from the grocery store in Broddetorp, a small town beside the lake.

Hector sleeps in my bed, Orvar down the stairs in the kitchen and old Erna sleeps in the living room. Teodore sleeps outside just beside the pond. He´s been looking at the insects that floats around on the pond with big interest. I´m a bit dissapointed since no frogs seemes to like my pond. I´ve seen frogs eggs in ditches all around and had hoped to get it in the pond too. Perhaps I´ll go out tonight and steel some from the ditches :-) :-) But I´m still hoping for dragon flies this summer :-)

Now it´s time for a cup of tea and I think I´ll make a couple of sandwiches too. I´ve bought the most tasteful cheese the other day. It´s so strong that I´ll get blisters on my tongue if eating to much of it :-) :-)

Have a great day now!

Christer.

Lovely songs to walk along with. I wake up to similar sounds. There are a lot of American Robins and English Sparrows nesting around my house and they can be very chatty. Also there is a Mockingbird who sings all day and half the night as well as one very loud Cardinal.
Your dogs look like bears off in the distance. :-)

Well that's a bummer! I love your nature pics...they're the perfect start to my day. I'll just have to visit later to see if you were ever able to get them to upload.

Thanks so much for your reply yesterday. I read the religious history lesson with fascination. Your explanation clarified a lot about my mother-in-law's parents' behavior. It has helped to soften my feelings toward them...even if they have been gone (passed away) for years!

I don't know enough about pond ecology to comment, but hoping you get some frogs soon! We have empty lots across the street from our house (I assume they haven't ever sold b/c they are so steep and don't provide "walkout" backyards.) and there is a creek that runs at the bottom of the ravine. When it's warm enough, I love to sleep with the windows open and listen to the croaking of the frogs. It lulls me to sleep!

Have a great day,
Val

Hi Caryn!
Yes it´s so nice when it starts every spring :-) But it has become really quiet nowdays in comparence to before they cut down a lot of the forest.

I call Orvar for "the bear", his brother is "the fox" and their mother "the wolf" :-) :-) :-)
Have a great day now!

Hi Valerie!
It´s no use looking for answers on blogger, their help centre is quite useless to be honest! But I´ve posted a question in one group and is now hoping that someone can answer what´s wrong.

Yes her parents were locked in old nasty traditions they couldn´t get out of. Thank good that has changed quite a lot.

I love the sounds from frogs. When I lived in my last home before this there were a big pond just close to my cottage. There were so many frogs there at spring we could hear those frogs from a mile away :-) Great sound to fall asleep to :-)
Have a great day now!

Your dogs looks like little bears in that video. I love those old houses. It would be nice to live in a place like that. Thanks for sharing. I'm going to stop at the nursery today to see if they have the False Spiraea. I looked it up in my plant book and it should thrive in my box garden by the porch. I love the color. Thanks.

Hi Z&M!
Some of the older houses are really beautiful, but the newer ones can be just boring to look at :-)

I thought the spirea would grow well down at Your place :-) and keeping it in a box is perfect!
Have a great day!

Christer...GOOD MORNING! I loved that little video. I have been hoping you would make another one. I wish all your walks were filmed. What bird song!! I have birds in my home..five of them and every morning I awaken to bird song. It's a wonderful thing to have in ones day.
With the moon like that and you living right near a swamp...I would take watching for Were Wolves very seriously!! :)
Enjoy your tea!
Mona

p.s. Good heavens! I forgot half of what I wanted to say! Age!! :)
I wanted to tell you that one of the huge differences between homes here and in Sweden is the color. Our homes are seldom of such bright and lovely colors. I long for a "Little Red House" as Mary and you have. Do you visit her blog? Lovely person and takes fantastic photo's. She sent me a beautiful book full of photo's of flowers that she had taken! I hope you are printing your photo's and saving them! That's all I wanted to add. Just about the color, the glorious color of the homes where you are. Gold and red..two of my favorite colors.
Oh..yes..and as far as Castles go...we only have one that I know of. Hearst Castle. It is near the ocean and was built by a Newspaper man who was very wealthy, many years ago. You might want to look it up but I think you have enough of Castles in Sweden to be interested in such things. :)
Take care, Christer!

Hi Mona and good evening :-)
I thought it was time for another video, but wasn´t sure what to tape. So I thought it could be nice to hear our birds singing :-)

I can´t hear the birds through the windows and it´s to cold to have the windows open over night yet. But son :-) :-)

I think I saw a were wolf hiding out in the bog last night (the bog starts just beside my cottage). Better to stay indoors those nights :-) :-) :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Hi again Mona :-9
It´s not age, we that forget what we wants to say have so many important things to think about that we get a bit destracted :-) :-)

I think our houses are so bright just because we have so little light here during the winter. We need something that shines up our days. I´ve been looking in to her blog now and again, but never commented.

About castles, they have never meant anything good to be honest. The people living there back in the days didn´t treat those working there or were crofters especially good. But I can´t deny that the buildings usually are very, very beautiful.
Take care now!
Christer.

I just read your blog for the first time. I happened on it when I was visiting "Keep the coffee coming". It's a very peaceful blog. Something that's great to read after my work day. I most especially enjoyed the video, the sounds of your forest worked just as well as any meditative "OMMM" could have done for me. Your surroundings are so different. I am in Texas but only 1 mile from New Mexico, and one mile from Old Mexico - Juarez. Anyway, I really enjoyed your blog.

I just read your blog for the first time. Your pictures and writings are very relaxing. A perfect way to wind down at the end of the evening. It's calming to wonder about someone's life and surroundings on the other side of the world for some reason. Your video was as good a meditation as any "OMMMMM" could have been. I am in Texas, a mile from New Mexico and 1 mile from old Mexico, Juarez. Things could not look or sound more different. Thanks for the peaceful blog.

This is the most calm place I´ve ever been to :-) I can´t even hear anything when people have a party. Perfect for me and I love living here :-)

Yes our different worlds is very differentin almost all ways I think :-) But I love looking at photo´s from Your part of the world and the mix of cultures You must have over at Yours must be fascinating!
Have a great day and welcome back!

Wonderful, wonderful pictures here. I *love* the moon. What a great shot. Love seeing the local architecture, too.

Hi Perowskia!
I got a bit lucky with that moon photo. Normally my camera isn´t capable to take those photo´s.

I like looking at others architecture too. Doesn´t matter if it is a castle or a croft.
Take care now!
