And so comes the day.

The day all pet owners fear. The day You have to say good bye to a dear friend that perhaps has been there for many, many years. Early this morning I had to say good bye to old Erna. I still vividly remember the night she was born on my kitchen floor and it feels like yesterday. Thirteen years, five months and two days goes much faster than one ever can believe.

Now I´ll stay away for a week or so, take care You all.

There´s no need for comments today.

Christer.

  10. I've never visited your blog before, but having been alerted by a friend of your great loss, and came by to learn more, I was inspired to write a companion piece to a Feline Version of a famous hymn loved by my Human, that I had written earlier this weekend, and was about to post.

I here freely share it with you, and I, Elvira, and Daddy, send hugs, and purrs your way...

HOW KIND YOU ARE - Canine Version in Honor of "Man's Best Friend"

Amazing Daddy, how kind you are,
That loves a Dog like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was alone, but now, have Thee.

    T'was You that taught...
    my heart such joy.
    And You, my fears relieved.
How precious are from you my toys...
    that I've chased and retrieved.

Through many dangers, toils and cares...
    we have already come.
T'was You, and the Vet that brought me safe thus far...
and give me a healthy home.

Almighty Dog has promised good to me...
He brought me You to live secure.
You my shield and protector be...
    as long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
    and mortal life shall end,
I shall possess within the veil,
a life of joy thanks to you my friend.

When we've gone thru to the end of my life...
    each day so much fun.
I will bark, and wag, my praise...
as much as when we first begun.

Amazing Daddy, how kind you are,
That loves a Dog like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was alone, but now, have Thee.

  12. I'm a friend of Ann's who sent me by. She knows how dearly I love my dogs and how special I know it can be when you love a dog. I am so, so sorry about your loss. I know your pain and I'll feel it again because I know that my life and home would not be complete without several paws following me from room to room. I hope you take some comfort in the fact that you gave your dear friend a long and good life. May she rest with the angels.
